CCHA Tournament - Round 1, Game 3
The No. 10 seed in the CCHA tournament is providing some excitement as the Wildcats knocked off No. 7 seed Ohio State two games to one. Lightning prospect Dusty Collins was scoreless in game three and minus-1 with 2 shots. It was his overtime goal in game two that saved off elimination for Northern.
The Wildcats scored two shorthanded goals in the win but the story of the series was Northern's backup goaltender Brian Stewert of Burnaby, B.C. Only a freshman with a season save percentage of .890, he made 34 saves in the game for the win. Stewert replaced starter Bill Zaniboni midway through the second period of game one and stayed in net the rest of the series.
With Alaska's upset win over Western Michigan in three games, Northern was the second lowest seed to move on and will travel to No. 2 seed Michigan in the second round for a best of three series. Alaska, seeded No. 11 plays No. 1 seed Notre Dame.
Northern Michigan 3 - Ohio State 2 (OT) - Game 2
Dusty Collins scored the game-winner in overtime to force a Game 3 tonight. The goal came just 3:15 into the extra period. For Collins, it was his forth goal of the season.
#16 UMASS 5 - #11 Maine 3
UMASS completed the weekend sweep of Maine to clinch home ice in the first round of the HEast tournament. The Minutemen claimed forth in the division while Maine finished in fifth. The two teams will face each other next weekend in the first round of the tournament.
Art Femenella and Vermont finished in fifth and will take on #5 Boston University in the first round of the HEast tournament.
Ohio State 6 - Northern Michigan 2
The Wildcats dropped game 1 of the best of three series to open the first found of the CCHA Tournament. Dusty Collins was scoreless and plus-1 for the game. Game 2 is tonight at Ohio State.
#16 Massachuetts 3 - #11 Maine 1
Both teams entered the weekend tied for forth in the Heast standings. UMASS pulls two points ahead with the win while Maine hopes to even it up tonight and stay ahead of Vermont. Maine's Mike Lundin was scoreless and plus-1 while UMASS defensemen John Wessbecker was scoreless and even.
The Black Bears are one point ahead of #15 Vermont who dropped their game to UMASS-Lowell last night 2-1, Lightning prospect Art Femenella did not play.
Northern Michigan 4 - #9 Miami 1
Dusty Collins and the Wildcats finished off their up and down season with an impressive win over a ranked team. Collins scored his third goal of the season in the win which turned out to be the game winner. He finished the regular season with three goals and two assists in 36 games played. He also recorded 30 PIM and was a minus-9. Northern Michigan takes on Ohio State in the first round of the CCHA tournament next weekend.
#12 Maine 5 - Merrimack 1
Maine completed the weekend sweep over Merrimack with Saturday's win. Mike Lundin was scoreless and even in both games. Maine concludes their regualr season next weekend with two games at Massachuetts.

Defensemen John Wessbecker finished scoreless and even in the game.
#9 Miami 4 - Northern Michigan 1
Center Dusty Collins was scoreless and a minus-2 for the game. The Wildcats conclude their regular season tomorrow night against the Redhawks.
