Last night in the final game of the CHL-Russia Challenge, Team WHL crushed the Russian selects 8-1 to complete the six game sweep for the CHL. Denis Kazionov was scoreless and -2 with 6 penalty minutes in the game. Kazionov finished the tour tied for third on the Russian team in scoring with 2 goals and 4 points, officially, with 10 penalty minutes which is a solid outing considering the low level of the teams Russia usually sends to this event and the high level of talent the CHL can conversely send into these games. Kazionov will now return to his club team Tver in the Russian Superleague.
Denis Kazionov had a goal last night in the Russian Selects' 5-3 loss to the WHL in the CHL-Russia Challenge. Kazionov is currently third on the Russian team in scoring checking in officially at 2 goals and 4 points in 5 games with 4 penalty minutes. The tour concludes tonight with a rematch between Russia and the WHL Selects.
Chris Lawrence scored his 16th goal of the season and was +2 in Mississauga's 6-5 shootout loss to Belleville. The 2005 3rd round pick failed to convert on his attempt in the penalty shot session and had 7 minutes in penalties including a fight against Belleville's Aaron Snow. Lawrence's point streak now extends to six games. Over that span he has netted 5 goals and 11 points with a +10 rating and 11 penalty minutes.
The WHL All-Stars beat Russia 5-3 in Game 5 of the Canada-Russia Challenge Wednesday night. While no Tampa prospects played for Team WHL, Denis Kazionov had another goal for Russia in the loss.
Denis Kazionov scored his first goal of the CHL-Russia Challenge tonight to go along with 2 penalty minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Russians fell to Team OHL 4-3. Kazionov has enjoyed a strong tour of North America thus far picking up points in 3 of the 4 games he has played thus far against select teams from the QMJHL and OHL. Through four games, Kazionov has 1 goal and 4 points. Denis plays his hockey in the Russian Superleague, the top men's league in Russia, despite the fact he won't turn 19 until December 8th. The young winger plays primarily a fourth line role for the club team Tver.
