AHL Preseason Game Day 9/30: Admirals at Phantoms
Submitted by pete on September 30, 2007 - 15:29The Admirals got some great goaltending from Karri Ramo and Ryan Munce and it made all the difference.

Ramo stopped 10 of 11 shots he faced before giving way to Munce who stopped 28 of 29 and went on for the shootout victory.
Tryout player Ron Klinkhammer led the way with 1 goal and 1 assist. Jay Rosehill had the other Norfolk goal. Blair Jones, Marek Kvapil, and Shawn Collymore added helpers.
Justin Keller and Radek Smolenak scored for Norfolk in the shootout.

News From the First Day of Admirals Camp Scrimmages
Submitted by pete on September 19, 2007 - 23:42This just in... according to the Virginian-Pilot's Paul White, Lightning style training camps are grueling. Who knew?
Also, Head Coach Steve Stirling praises Justin Keller, Chris Lawrence, Brandon Elliot, Jay Rosehill, Jonathan Boutin, and Dana Tyrell. Also, Marek Kvapil scored two goals on the first day of scrimmages.

A Ramothodist Preacher's Sunday Sermon
Submitted by pete on September 16, 2007 - 15:21Lightning fans who know me know that when it comes to this team's prospects I've been a big booster of the concept of Karri Ramo making it to the NHL sooner rather than later. However, for Ramo to make the team out of camp would be an improbable event because the business side of the game all but precludes it. The Lightning have invested roughly $4 million dollars in the tandem of Johan Holmqvist and Marc Denis heading into the 2007-2008 season, and the team learned this summer that Denis is virtually untradable at this point in time after such a poor campaign last season. I won't even attempt to argue for Ramo's promotion to the bigs from a business standpoint, because it doesn't make sense.
But from a hockey standpoint it makes all the sense in the world, and it makes sense on two levels...

AHL Game Night 4/14: Bruins at Falcons

Jonathan Boutin allowed 2 goals on 34 shots in the loss. The Falcons finish the 2006-2007 season by being shutout in their final two contests. Appropo. Boutin was named third star of the game for his efforts.

Jonathan Boutin allowed 5 goals on 26 shots before being pulled for Kevin Beech who allowed 2 goals on 9 shots the rest of the way. Manchester scored a remarkable 6 power play goals in the game going 6 for 12 on the man advantage.
