The older Kazionov was scoreless in Kazan's blanking of Novokuznetsk, playing 12:31 in the match. Kazan was led by a pair of goals from former NHLer Niko Kapanen. For anyone wondering whatever happened to former Lightning first rounder Nikita Alexeev, the big winger has 1 goal and 2 points in 23 games with Kazan, and has averaged just 10:06 in ice time per game. Kazionov, by comparison, has averaged 13:09 per match.

Channel One Cup: Day Three

Russia 4 @ Czech Republic 3 (SO)
Vasily Koshechkin, Russia, Win, 34/37, 2.77 GAA, .919 sv%

Sweden finished last in the tournament with a 0-1-2 record.

Channel One Cup: Day Two

Russia 2 @ Finland 3

Koshechkin dressed, but was the backup on Saturday for the Russians. Finland got a goal from Petri Kontiola with 7 seconds left in regulation to take the win. The centerman, ironically, is Koshechkin's teammate with Magnitogorsk of the KHL.

Harju played on the third line for Sweden in the game. Former NHLer Mattias Weinhandl scored the overtime winner for the Swedes. Weinhandl is Harju's teammate in the KHL with Dynamo Moscow.
