CHL Game Night: 1/27

Kevin Beech played just one period against the Kitchener Rangers tonight, stopping only 13 of 17 shots. He was pulled after the first period. The Rangers went on to beat Erie 8-1 in Erie.

The Rangers remain one point behind London in the Midwest Division thanks to London's 8-2 win over Marek Bartanus and Owen Sound in Owen Sound. Bartanus' pointless streak hit 11 games as he was scoreless. He was also minus-2, which extends his streak without finishing a game with a plus rating to 23.

In the WHL, Prince George fell to Tri-City for the second straight night, this time 4-2. Both games were played in Prince George. Vladimir Mihalik did not register a point, but was plus-1 and had 2 PIM.

Dane Crowley and Everett made the short trip to Seattle and defeated the Thunderbirds 3-1. Crowley's four game point streak came to an end. He was plus-1 for the game.

CHL Game Night: 1/26

Make it 10 games without a point for Marek Bartanus. Owen Sound and Kitchener combined for 91 shots on goal, yet the result was only a 4-2 game in favor of Kitchener. The game was played at The Aud in Kitchener. Bartanus was minus-1, his 22nd straight game without finishing with a plus rating. He is minus-11 during that time.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Chris Lawrence extended his goal scoring streak to five games with a goal and assist as Mississauga beat Sarnia 7-5 in Mississauga. Lawrence was also plus-2, had 2 PIM, and was named the game's second star.

Kevin Beech had another good effort for the usually over matched Erie Otters, this time stopping 27 of 29 shots in a 3-1 loss to Brampton in Erie. The Battalion added a late empty net goal.

In the WHL, Prince George lost at home to Tri-City 2-1. Vladimir Mihalik scored his fifth goal of the year for Prince George. He was also plus-1 and named the game's second star.

Everett crushed the Winter Hawks in Portland, 9-0. Dane Crowley saw his three game goal scoring streak end, but extended his point streak to four games with two assists. He was also an outstanding plus-5.

CHL Game Night: 1/20

I smell the heavy scent of BP Prospect of the Week consideration.

Chris Lawrence had 2 more goals and an assist Saturday night as Mississauga crushed Kevin Beech and Erie 9-3. Lawrence was also plus-2 and was named the game's second star. For all those keeping track, Lawrence has 7 goals and 2 assists this week, with a plus-6 rating. After a rough road trip last week, Mississauga has scored 21 goals in 3 games this week, giving up 6. As for Beech, after two straight solid outings, he was pulled midway through the first period when he gave up 3 goals on 6 shots.

Marek Bartanus and Owen Sound defeated Guelph 2-1 in Owen Sound. Bartanus was even and didn't register a point.

In the WHL, Everett fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Tri-City Americans. Dane Crowley missed the game with the flu.

Prince George shutout Chilliwack for the second consecutive night. Vladimir Mihalik was scoreless and even, but did have a fighting major. Mihalik took on Donnie Glennie, who's listed at 5'10". Mihalik, of course, is 6'8". (I haven't been able to find fight details as of yet.)

CHL Game Night 1/19: The Chris Lawrence Show - Encore

Chris Lawrence continued his hot streak with a natural hattrick in Mississauga's 7-2 win over the Barrie Colts. Lawrence scored three straight goals in just over 7 minutes of the third period to break the game open, including his first two just 8 seconds apart. He was also plus-2 with 4 PIM. Lawrence now has 30 goals on the year. For the second consecutive game he was named the game's first star.

Kevin Beech won his first game with Erie, stopping 29 of 32 shots to help the Otters defeat Toronto St. Mike's 4-3. This was just the 10th win of the year for Erie.

Marek Bartanus and the Owen Sound Attack were shutout by Guelph 5-0. Bartanus was minus-1.

Vladimir Mihalik scored his fourth of the year to help Prince George to a 4-0 shutout win over Chilliwack. Mihalik was even in the game.

Dane Crowley and Everett shut down Vancouver 4-2 in Everett. Crowley scored his sixth goal of the year and now has a 2-game goal streak. He was also plus-1. Crowley was named the game's third star.
