Harvard bolted to 3-0 and 4-1 leads, but failed to hold on against the Raiders, who scored four times in the third period. Killorn (pictured at the Lightning's prospect camp this summer), the reigning ECAC Player of the Week, had both his points early in the first period. The Crimson received 22 votes in the last USCHO poll, three spots out of the top-20.

Witkowski Not Just Biding His Time With WMU Hockey

Harvard took to the ice for the first time this season in an exhibition game against McGill University, which is located in the sophomore Killorn’s hometown of Montreal. Harvard received 21 votes in the last USCHO poll, which technically ranks them at No.27.

Witkowski received his first two penalty minutes of his collegiate career. The rugged defenseman will likely have many more to come. He had 118 in 55 games last year for USHL Fargo, and 139 in 59 the year before for USHL Ohio.

Witkowski made his collegiate debut for the Broncos after spending the last two seasons in the USHL. Even as a freshman, the former Fargo Force captain is expected to make an impact on the UWM blueline this season. Witkowski, a native of Holland, Michigan, had six goals and 22 points last year for Fargo, helping them to the USHL Finals.

Notes: Alex Killorn and Harvard begin their season with an exhibition game October 23. They start their regular season October 30 at Dartmouth ... Matt Marshall and No.11 Vermont are off until Sunday ... Recent Lightning prospect Justin Courtnall (BCHL Victoria) made his collegiate debut for Boston University Friday night. He was scoreless, even, and had one shot on goal as the No.2 Terriers lost to unranked UMass 3-2.

Deja-Vu: Force Takes Game 1 on the Road

Both teams fighting for the Clark Cup were No.3 seeds in their respective divisions, but Indiana had the better record. Fargo remains undefeated in the playoffs despite being the lower seed in every series. Witkowski and the Force were down 1-0 in the third before scoring twice late to steal the win, the game winner coming with under a minute left in the game. Game 2 is Saturday in Indianapolis.
