Tri-City Americans 2 @ Vancouver Giants 3 (OT)

C/W/D James Wright, VAN: 1-1-2, +2, 0 PIM, *Second Star*

Wright (pictured) scored early in the first and the Giants would add another in the period to lead 2-0 after one, but Tri-City clawed their way back to force overtime in Game 3. Wright then set up Tomas Vincour (Stars 5/09) for his seventh goal of the playoffs at 3:49 of overtime to give Vancouver a 3-2 win and take a 2-1 series lead. The two points were the first of the series for Wright. Game 4 is Thursday in Vancouver.

On the other side, Calgary defeated Brandon 6-3 to take a 2-1 series lead in the East. What we’d like to see here for Vancouver/Wright is Brandon win the East and Vancouver the West, so even if Memorial Cup host (automatic bid) Brandon wins the championship, the Giants would be invited to the Cup tournament.
