ECHL Game Night 2/7: Chiefs at Cyclones

Now THAT'S an impressive win.

Morgan Cey stopped 23 of 24 shots faced in the win. Someone break up Johnstown's checking line. Eric Przepiorka led the Chiefs attack tonight with 1 goal and 1 assist while Ryan Gibbons had a pair of assists. Brandon Elliot stayed hot scoring his 10th goal of the season while Randy Rowe and Maxime Boisclair had the other Chiefs goals. Andrew Martens and John Adams had individual helpers.

A convincing win on the road against the first place team in the North Division is a strong strong signal the Chiefs have righted their ship and are ready to make a run toward the playoffs. Johnstown improves to 1 game under .500 and are 5 points back of 4th place Toledo. The Chiefs have won three straight games.

Coleman recalled to Springfield; Boutin has minor injury

Johnstown, PA (February 5, 2007) – The Johnstown Chiefs on Monday announced that goaltender Gerald Coleman has been recalled to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Bolt Prospects has learned from sources within the Lightning organization that the reason for the recall is that Jonathan Boutin is not 100% healthy and may not be able to dress for the Falcon's next game.

ECHL Game Night 2/3: Royals at Chiefs

Looks like the Chiefs may get things cooking this month.

Morgan Cey stopped 34 of 35 shots faced for the win. Veteran Randy Rowe paved the way offensively with 2 goals and 1 assist. ECHL Game Day 1/28: Bombers at Chiefs

Unfortunately, it looks like things might be getting a little worse in Johnstown before they get better.

Gerald Coleman stopped 29 of 32 shots faced in his first start since returning from a groin injury. Randy Rowe scored the lone Chiefs goal off an assist from Jean Desrochers. Rowe was named the third star of the game.

One small editorial: where is Zbynek Hrdel? Other than the side of a milk carton? Hrdel is scoreless in his last 5 games and has just 1 assist in his last 7 at a level of hockey where he should be a consistent scoring line player. Hrdel has another year on his contract after this one, but he's quietly playing himself out of the organization, in my opinion, unless he starts to pick it up.

Well, it's a fair sight better than getting killed 7-2 like the last time they played Augusta.

Morgan Cey stopped 22 of 26 shots through 40 minutes before giving way to Gerald Coleman who stopped just 3 of 5 shots faced to take the hard luck loss in relief. Brandon Elliot, amazingly, led the Chiefs offensively with 2 goals and 1 assist while Dimitri Tarabrin had 1 goal and 2 assists. Stanislav Lascek also had a multi-point night with 1 goal and 1 assist as well as a game high 9 shots on goal. Ben Wallace, Jean Desrochers, Grant Jacobsen and John Adams each had individual helpers. ECHL Game Night 1/24: Chiefs at Titans

An incredible comeback from 3 goals down.

Coleman Cleared To Play

Mike Mastovich of the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reports that goaltender Gerald Coleman has been cleared to play and will join a goaltending triad that includes himself, Morgan Cey and recently acquired Ryan Munce. Coleman has been slowed by a groin injury suffered two months ago and his only game action came in a brief appearance in Augusta on the Chiefs' recent southern road trip in which the former London goaltender was reinjured.

ECHL Game Day 1/21: Chiefs at Storm

Surprising to see the highly skilled Chiefs get shutout.

Morgan Cey stopped 15 of 17 shots for the loss before leaving the game in the second period. Ryan Munce, making his Johnstown debut, stopped 20 of 21 the rest of the way. The Chiefs were outshot 38-24 in the contest.
