Lightning Recall Jones

Tampabaylightning.com is reporting the Lightning have recalled Blair Jones from Springfield of the AHL.

According to the press release, Jones, 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, has played in 45 games for the Falcons this season. He has scored five goals and recorded 21 points. He played in two games with the Lightning during the 2006 preseason and logged nearly 10 minutes of ice time in each game while landing two hits, recording one takeaway and blocking three shots.

He has already played six games with the Lightning this season. He appeared in his first NHL game November 20 at Buffalo and logged nearly 10 minutes of ice time. He recorded his first career point with an assist on the game winner on November 22 at Florida. He has two assists this season with Tampa Bay.

Ramo Wins Best Goaltender at AHL Skills Competition

Have we mentioned he's just 20? Karri Ramo continued to expand his reputation as a wunderkind tonight in winning the Top Goaltender Award at the AHL Skills Competition. Ramo tied for best in the competition with 15 saves including 7 of 10 in the rapid fire, 3 of 3 in the 3-on-0 event and 4
5 of 6 in the breakaway event. Congratulations to Karri on another great night in an already great rookie season.

AHL Game Night 1/27: Phantoms at Falcons

Unfortunately, I think this may go down as the weekend that killed any legitimate playoff hopes for the Falcons.

PHI-2
SPR-1

Jonathan Boutin stopped 30 of 32 shots faced in the loss but was named second star of the game. Andy Delmore had the only Falcons goal.

First Period
PHI Zingoni, (9) (Slaney, Ellison), 4:02 (PP)

Second Period
PHI Ellison, (6) (Davis, Kane), 15:53

Third Period
SPR Delmore, (12) , 14:10

AHL Game Night 1/26: Devils at Falcons

It makes me sick to my stomach to see the Falcons blow a 3-0 lead.

LOW-5
SPR-3

Karri Ramo allowed 4 goals on 27 shots in the loss and his season record (13-14-0) now falls under .500 for the first time since October. Norm Milley led the Falcons with 1 goal and 1 assist while Daniel Corso had 2 assists. Eric Healey and Andre Deveaux had the other Falcons goals and Doug O'Brien, Adam Henrich and Andy Delmore had individual helpers. Milley was named third star of the game.

Instead of leapfrogging Portland into 5th in the division and keeping pace 4 points back of the final Atlantic Division playoff spot, the Falcons have dropped 6 points out of the playoffs and just 1 point out of the Atlantic Division basement. Tonight's game was the first of a five game spot in the schedule where Springfield looked to have some winnable games, but the third period collapse against Lowell seems an ominous sign.

First Period
SPR Milley, (17) (Corso, O'Brien), 19:52

Second Period
SPR Deveaux, (1) (Corso, Henrich), 12:03
SPR Healey, (20) (Milley, Delmore), 12:51
LOW Murphy, (8) (Greene, Mottau), 17:43 (PP)

Third Period
LOW Marshall, (4) (Fraser, McGillis), 0:34
LOW Bergfors, (11) (Fahey, McGillis), 2:25
LOW Clarkson, (13) (Pihlman), 7:00
LOW Pihlman, (4) , 19:39 (EN)

Two Up, Two Down

The Springfield Falcons have announced the recall of LW/C Adam Henrich and RW/C Andre Deveaux from Johnstown of the ECHL. To make room, the Falcons also announced they have returned Maxime Boisclair to Johnstown and released Randy Rowe from his PTO and returned him to Johnstown as well.

In 26 games in the ECHL this season, Henrich has 8 goals and 22 points with 109 penalty minutes and a +8 rating. In 21 games with the Chiefs, Deveaux has 6 goals and 14 points with 51 penalty minutes and a -4 rating.

Boisclair, who still leads the Chiefs in scoring, had just 1 goal in his 17 game recall to Springfield with 6 penalty minutes and a -3 rating. Rowe was similarly ineffective scoring just 2 goals and 3 points in 17 games with a -2 rating.
