One of the two Lightning property goaltenders in this series got the start for their respective teams, but Helenius and Seattle couldn’t hold a 2-1 lead and dropped Game 1. Brady Leavold (undrafted) scored the GTG and GWG for Kelowna. His GTG came with 14 seconds left in the second period.

G Riku Helenius, SEA: Loss, 36 saves on 39 shots, *Third Star*
Both Lightning prospects were named stars of the game as Mitch Fadden’s Hurricanes squeaked by Riku Helenius’ Thunderbirds 3-2. All three Lethbridge goals, including Fadden's eleventh of the season, came on the power play. Helenius has lost five straight appearances, but twice in that time he was named a star of the game. He has at least 30 saves in 4 of those 5 games. Seattle managed only 18 shots against Lethbridge.

Prince George lost their fifth in a row as Dana Tyrell’s modest three game point streak came to an end. The Chiefs are 12-1-0-1 in their last 14 games.

The Cougars have won 2 of 3 on their road trip so far. Tyrell's goal came on the power play.

Fadden had a 10 minute misconduct tacked on to a slashing minor early in the first period. The Broncos scored on the ensuing 2 minute power play.
