Brynas 3 @ Timra 2

Johan Harju, Brynas, 1-0-1, E, 7 SOG, 0 PIM
Season totals: 41 GP, 15-8-23, +5, 14 PIM

Johan Harju scored and Brynas ended its four-game losing streak Friday night with a victory over much-maligned Timra but not before squandering a two-goal lead it held heading into the third period and needing a timely goal from rearguard Christian Djoos with roughly ten minutes remaining in regulation to close out their hosts. Former Lightning netminder Johan Holmqvist earned the win, stopping all but two of nineteen shots in the contest. Harju's goal, which came early in the second period and extended his club's lead to two, was an even-strength tally and the byproduct of a wrister floated in from the point by teammate Ryan Gunderson. On the play, the puck pinballed, coming out of midair right to the immediate vicinity of Harju who was cutting across the front of the crease. Harju, who managed a game-high seven shots on goal, was able to, as he spun into better position, get a backhander on net that generated a rebound which he then whacked out of mid-air and into the back of the net. Brynas (15-14-5-7, 62 PTS) now returns home to play host to Frolunda (16-16-5-4, 62 PTS) next Tuesday.

Detroit Red Wings prospect Calle Jarnkrok scored twice scored twice for Brynas. Lightning overager Johan Harju opened the scoring roughly halfway through the first when, after pulling off a toe-drag at the side off the opposing net, he attempted a pass that banked off a skate near the top of the crease, on net and back out front where Harju calmly collected the puck and wristed it high and in.
