Florida came into this all-important three game series with Greenville two points behind the Road Warriors for the division lead. After beating Greenville Wednesday, the Blades surrendered the final two games Friday and Saturday and with the point earned for a shootout loss Saturday, find themselves three points behind now. Former Barrie star Alex Hutchings had two goals for Florida, but it was his miss as Florida’s 12th shooter that enabled Greenville to get the extra point in the shootout. Hutchings had scored in the fourth round of the shootout, which tied the extra-extra session at one goal apiece. Greenville won the shootout 4-3 in 12 rounds. Florida had a 3-1 lead midway through the third period after Hutchings' goals, but Greenville scored 32 seconds later to make it 3-2, and tied it on the power play with five minutes remaining in regulation.

Of Note: With Mike Smith being assigned to AHL Norfolk by Tampa Bay, speculation is Jaroslav Janus will return to the Everblades shortly. No announcement has been made as of Saturday night.

Ross Carlson had a goal and two assists and Lightning prospect Alex Hutchings had an assist as the Everblades took Game 1 vs. division rival Greenville 5-2 Wednesday. The teams are in a three-game series this week/weekend and with the win, Florida pulled into a first-place tie with the Road Warriors. According to the Everblades, Hutchings tried to stuff the puck inside the left post, but had the puck roll free to the opposite post, where Bobby Raymond poked it in to open the game’s scoring. The teams will play again Friday and Saturday. Although they are currently tied at the top of the division, Greenville has a whopping five games in hand on Florida.
