CHL Playoffs Game Night: 3/30

Spokane 1 @ Everett 5
Everett leads best-of-7 series 3-2

The Everett Silvertips used a four goal second period to break open a tie game and untie their opening round series with Spokane. The Tips ended up with a 5-1 victory over the Chiefs, taking a 3-2 lead in the series. Dane Crowley was scoreless and plus-1 in the win. Game 6 is in Spokane Sunday.

NHL Game Night 3/30: Lightning at Hurricanes

Most "ginormous-est" win of the season thus far.

TB-4
CAR-2

Johan Holmqvist played well stopping 26 of 28 shots for the win. Vincent Lecavalier had an MVP caliber performance with 1 goal and 2 assists on 11 shots on goal in the victory. The goal was his 50th of the season and Lecavalier now sits at 103 points through 78 games. Wow. Vaclav Prospal also had a multi-point night with 1 goal and 1 assist and Martin St. Louis and the scoring machine that is Filip Kuba had the other Lightning goals. Shane O'Brien and Paul Ranger had individual assists.

The win moves the Lightning back to within 3 points of Atlanta in the division with a game in hand. The most minute stumble by the Thrashers could set up an epic season finale with first round home ice and a division banner at stake. In addition, the Lightning open up a 3 point lead on 9th place and leapfrog the Rangers into 6th in the conference.

AHL Game Night 3/30: Falcons at Bruins

One thing I won't miss in Norfolk: getting annihilated for what seems like two dozen games a year by Providence.

SPR-2
PRO-5

Jonathan Boutin, whose save percentage is sinking faster than a submarine with a screen door, allowed 4 goals on 22 shots for the loss before being pulled for Kevin Beech who allowed 1 goal on 9 shots. Eric Healey and ATO signee Jacob Micflikier had the Falcons goals. Jay Rosehill and Norm Milley added assists.

ECHL Game Night 3/30: Storm at Chiefs

All of a sudden, with Special K as the spark, the playoff math is starting to favor the Chiefs.

TOL-1
JHN-6

Ryan Munce made 24 stops for the win. The former Kings draft pick has won 3 of his last 4 starts. Radek Smolenak posted a 1 goal and 3 assist night to pace the Chiefs. Marek Kvapil added 3 assists and Gus Katsuras chipped in a pair of goals. Zbynek Hrdel had 1 goal and 1 assist and PJ Atherton had 2 assists to complete the list of 5 Chiefs players who posted multi-point nights. Defensemen John Adams and Ian MacLean had the team's other goals. Maxime Boisclair and Andrew Martens added individual helpers. Smolenak, Katsuras and Kvapil were named the game's three stars.

And just like that Johnstown is just 1 point out of a playoff spot with 2 games in hand on the Reading Royals.
