After battling a knee sprain and a tandem goaltender on a hot streak, Helenius made his first start since February 20 and earned a win for Seattle. Seattle sits in fourth in the Western Conference, four points ahead of Everett and five ahead of Kelowna. Tyrell and PG have long been out of the running for a playoff spot. Tyrell has just two assists in his last five games.
Vancouver Giants 4 @ Kelowna Rockets 1
G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did not play
Vancouver outshot Kelowna 35-17 in the game. Jung has not started a game since February 23 and has not won a start since January 30. Kelowna is currently in sixth in the Western Conference with a secured playoff spot. They could move up as high as fourth with a strong finish, but will more likely be the fifth or sixth seed.
The WHL regular season ends March 16.

Not that many care but me still, but Arty has scored in two straight playoff games for CSKA. They won the first 8-0 and the second 6-1. One goal was on the PP and the other was even strength.

Lewiston, the defending QMJHL champions, is holding down the fifth seed right now in the Eastern Division, but is just two points out of third and seven points out of first with five games left. They have clinched a playoff spot.
Everett Silvertips 5 @ Tri-City Americans 2
D Dane Crowley, EVT: 0-1-1, +3, 0 PIM
Jacob DeSerras started for the T-Birds but left late in the third period. Helenius finished the game and is expected to start tonight (Wednesday) in a rematch with PG. Seattle is currently two points ahead of Everett for the Western Conference’s fourth seed. The WHL is using a new playoff format this year, where the division winners (2) in each conference automatically get the top two conference seeds and the rest fall in line in a traditional format. Previously teams would play within their own division during the first round (1-4, 2-3).
An example of some WHL craziness from this game (per Jim Swanson of the Prince George Citizen): “(Prince George goaltender Real) Cyr stopped the (Holloway) shot, but slid into the net, across the line, and after a lengthy discussion involving the four on-ice officials and the goal judge, it was correctly ruled a goal. Interesting that the third period was played without a goal judge at that end -- the story is the original goal judge walked away because he disagreed with the referees' decision. A child sat in his chair for part of the period, but no one sat in the seat for the final 15 minutes.â€
