C Mitch Fadden, LET: 1-0-1, E, 17 PIM (unsportsmanlike conduct, fighting major-game misconduct), *Second Star*
The line of Zach Boychuck, Fadden, and Colton Sceviour (Dallas 4th round 2007) combined for 7 points and 39 PIM as they all received fighting majors in a brawl that took place with just over a minute left in the one-sided game. The three took all three star awards for the game, with Boychuck being the first star for his 2+1.
Lightning General Manager Jay Feaster and Norfolk General Manager Claude Loiselle were scheduled to be in Edmonton last night for the Oil Kings-Medicine Hat Tigers game.
The Tigers won the game 7-1. Notable draft eligible players (CSS Midterm rankings)include:
Following last Wednesday night's ECHL All-Star game in Stockton, CA, the Mississippi Sea Wolves had the unenviable task of starting the second half of the season with a three-in-three on the road against the ECHL's best team - the Texas Wildcatters. And just like that, all that momentum of a 10-2 January run to the All-Star game vanishes as the Wolves go 0-3 in Beaumont. Ryan Munce gave up 10 goals in two games, bringing the young goalie back to earth after a other-worldly run in 8 games prior to the All-Star event. Brandon Elliott played this weekend for the first time since early December.
No.1 Michigan 2 @ No.6 Michigan State 2 (OT)
D Kevin Quick, UM: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 0 shots on goal
Quick took a hard elbow to the head in the first period, drawing a penalty. The freshman maintained a regular shift throughout this highly competitive game, but got caught out of position on a couple of occasions resulting in MSU scoring chances and was picked from behind trying to carry the puck out of his zone in overtime that eventually resulted in a MSU power play. Michigan was only able to tie this game thanks to a penalty in front of the MSU keeper that wasn't called and a Spartan defenseman who tried to bat the airborne puck with his glove away from the net but instead knocked it behind his goalie for an own-goal. Ironically, MSU beat UM the night before on an own-goal.

Saturday night's highlights:
- Cunti finding his groove

That one hurts.

Marc Denis was perfect through two periods and was staked a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame. Disappointingly, the team allowed 2 quick goals and it was 2-2. Mario Scalzo scored the go ahead marker midway through the third only to see Albany tie the game with 28 seconds left. Barf.
Radek Smolenak stretched his point scoring streak to five games.
Junior Lessard and Paul Szczechura were named second and third stars of the game, respectively.
