CHL Game Night: 11/5

OHL

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 1 @ Windsor Spitfires 4
C Richard Panik, WSR: 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 18 GP, 4-8-12, +15, 6 PIM

Windsor went ahead 3-0 before the midway point of the game and never looked back, outshooting the Soo 45-20. Panik has points in six of his last eight games, but just one goal over that time. He finished October with nine points in 14 games.

NHL Game Night: 11/5 Lightning at Senators

I actually thought tonight was a huge improvement over the Toronto game.

TB-2
OTT-3 (OT)

Antero Niittymaki allowed 3 goals on 29 shots for the overtime loss. I thought it was another quality start. I feel like he should clearly be the starter at this stage.

First Period
TB 3:03, Tanguay 2 (Halpern, Downie)(PP)
OTT 5:02, Alfredsson 6 (Spezza, Michalek)

Second Period
OTT 12:00, Fisher 6 (Kovalev, Spezza)(PP)
TB 13:40, Stamkos 12 (St. Louis, Lecavalier)(PP)

Third Period
NO SCORING

Overtime
OTT 4:17, Spezza 1 (Kuba, Fisher)(PP)

The offense is still lacking in continuity and not generating as many chances and as much forecheck as you might want, but the defensive effort was light years better than against Toronto.

Steve Downie had an assist, 17 penalty minutes, and 1 blocked shot in 8:45. Downie is now 7 games shy of graduating from prospect status here on Bolt Prospects.

Zenon Konopka had 1 hit, 2 blocked shots, and was 80% on draws in 8:51.

James Wright had 2 hits and was 50% on draws in 13:50.

Victor Hedman had 2 blocked shots in 15:17 before leaving the game after getting hit by Ottawa's Chris Neil. The way he grabbed his head, I'm a little worried it's a concussion.

CHL Game Night: 11/4

OHL

Peterborough Petes 4 @ Belleville Bulls 3 (SO)
RW Kyle DeCoste, BEL: 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 14 GP, 3-1-4, -1, 20 PIM
With Bulls: 1 GP, 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM
With SSM: 13 GP, 2-1-3, -2, 20 PIM

DeCoste scored the game's opening goal on the power play in his first game as a Bull, but Belleville couldn’t hang on to 2-0 and 3-2 leads and get a win. The Bulls lost the shootout 2-0 and now stand at 6-11-1-1 on the year, two points ahead of Ottawa for fourth in the East Division. DeCoste, who scored when he banged home a rebound off his own shot, now has a two game goal streak and three game point streak.

Barrie Colts 6 @ Owen Sound Attack 1
LW/C Alex Hutchings, BAR: 1-0-1, E, 2 PIM (tripping)
Season Totals: 18 GP, 9-10-19, +6, 10 PIM

Hutchings’ ninth goal of the season broke a mini two-game scoreless streak. He finished October with 13 points in 13 games (6-7-13).

WHL

Everett Silvertips 2 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 3
RW Carter Ashton, LET: 0-2-2, +1, 0 PIM, *Third Star*
Season Totals: 16 GP, 9-11-20, -4, 28 PIM

Ashton (pictured) extended his point streak to five games with two primary assists Wednesday night. He has 10 points in those five games, but surprisingly for him, just two goals. He’s already nearing his career high for assists in a season, set last year at 20. He also had 30 goals and 50 points in 70 games last year.
