Lightning Extend G Eddie Pascale with One-Year, Two-Way Deal

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed goaltender Eddie Pasquale to a one-year, two-way contract, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Pasquale, 27, appeared in 31 American Hockey League games last season, splitting the season between the Bakersfield Condors and Crunch, posting a record of 16-6-7 to go along with a 2.19 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. In 15 games with Syracuse, the Toronto, Ontario native went 10-1-1 with a 1.72 goals-against average and .938 save percentage. He ranked fourth in the AHL for goals-against average and fifth for save percentage.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound goaltender has played in 226 career AHL games over seven seasons, compiling a record of 110-84-13 to go along with a 2.54 goals-against average and .914 save percentage with 16 shutouts. Pasquale set career bests for goals-against average and save percentage during the 2017-18 season. He helped lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to the Calder Cup Championship in 2017.

Pasquale was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round, 117th overall, at the 2009 NHL Draft.

Lightning Re-Signs Pending RFA Daniel Walcott

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Daniel Walcott to a one-year, two-way contract today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Walcott, 5-foot-11, 174 pounds, played in 62 games with the Syracuse Crunch last season, recording five goals and 16 points with a plus-5 rating. He also appeared in seven Calder Cup Playoff games in 2018 and recorded an assist.

A native of Ile Perrot, Quebec, Walcott has played in 180 career AHL games with the Crunch and Hartford Wolf Pack. He has amassed 11 goals and 44 points with four game-winning goals. Walcott has also skated in 20 Calder Cup Playoff games, all with Syracuse in the previous two seasons, recording five assists.

The Lightning acquired Walcott’s rights from the New York Rangers on June 1, 2015 in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2015.

Bolts Extend Depth F Michael Bournival

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Michael Bournival to a one-year, two-way contract, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Bournival, 25, skated in five games with the Lightning during the 2017-18 regular season, recording five shots on goal. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound forward has played in 113 career NHL games over three seasons with the Lightning and Montreal Canadiens, notching 12 goals and 22 points to go along with 24 penalty minutes. Bournival set career highs during the 2013-14 season while with Montreal for games played (60), goals (seven), assists (seven) and points (14).

The Shawinigan, Quebec native has appeared in 57 games with the Crunch this season, posting 15 goals and 34 points to go along with 55 penalty minutes. Bournival ranks tied for fourth on Syracuse for goals and is eighth for points. He has played in 199 career AHL games over six seasons, collecting 40 goals and 103 points to go along with 121 penalty minutes.

Bournival was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round, 71st overall, at the 2010 NHL Draft

Lightning Inks F Otto Somppi to Entry Level Deal

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Otto Somppi to a three-year, entry-level contract, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Somppi, 20, skated in 59 games with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season, recording 28 goals and 83 points to go along with 28 penalty minutes. He led the Mooseheads for assists (55), points and plus/minus (plus-39). Somppi’s 55 assists ranked sixth overall in the league. The Helsinki, Finland native has also appeared in two QMJHL playoff games, posting one assist. During the 2017-18 season, he served as an assistant captain for Halifax.

The 6-foot-2, 188-pound forward has skated in 178 career QMJHL games, all with the Mooseheads over the past three seasons, collecting 58 goals and 170 points to go along with 83 penalty minutes. Somppi represented Finland at the 2017 World Jr. Championships, skating in five games and registering one goal.

Somppi was drafted by the Lightning in the seventh round, 206th overall, at the 2016 NHL Draft.
