Passing along some information being reported by Bill Meltzer regarding a meeting taking place tomorrow in Stockholm on whether the SEL will join the RSL in opting out of the IIHF transfer agreement with the NHL. From Meltzer's article:
Färjestad general manager Håkan Loob spoke out saying, "The majority in the Hockey League think the new agreement is too unfavorable. ...It's a catastrophe that the NHL [clubs] must decide within two year whether or not to sign a player. What it means is that more [players] get NHL contracts and disappear from Elitserien. ...Without a transfer agreement, only contract-less players can disappear to the NHL. There's a lot of positives in it. Then we would have more control over the player market."
