Damian Crisdotero of the St. Pete Times is reporting that Bolt Prospects alumnus Evgeny Artyukhin has agreed in principle to a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Terms of the deal are unknown at this time. Artyukhin will sign the contract on July 1st once he is legally eligible to sign under the rules of the CBA. The hulking forward spent the past two seasons with Yaroslavl, Omsk, and CSKA of the Russian Superleague. He last played in North America in 2005-2006 when he appeared in 72 games for the Lightning and potted 4 goals to go along with 17 points and 90 penalty minutes.
Damian Crisdotero is reporting in his blog that the Lightning are in talks with Russian forward and Bolt Prospects alumni Evgeny Artyukhin. Artyukhin has spent the past two seasons in the Russian Superleague after leaving the NHL due to a prolonged contract dispute with the Lightning.
Not that many care but me still, but Arty has scored in two straight playoff games for CSKA. They won the first 8-0 and the second 6-1. One goal was on the PP and the other was even strength.
Just as a heads up, Evgeny Artyukhin is now on CSKA. He's played in either 3 or 4 games and either has a goal or doesnt haha. Wish I knew more, but according to the fans of CSKA he did score his first goal with them in his first game but it doesnt show on stats. Here's a link to the messageboard post about it:
The annual Karjala Cup, a leg of the yearly Euro Tour of the best club players from the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, and Sweden, is slated to begin on Thursday as he European leagues are all winding down toward the Karjala Cup break. Two Lightning properties are currently slated to play in the tournament: Russian winger Anton But and Swedish defenseman Andreas Holmqvist.
The break is also a period of significant transfer activity and with several Lightning prospects in contractual limbo, the break may offer some interesting outcomes for players like Evgeny Artyukhin, Denis Kazionov, and Vasily Koshechkin. We shall see.
Not sure if the BP guys had seen this yet, but Denis Kazionov is no longer on any team in Russia and apparently tried out for HC Avangard. I know the last few reports have him as not playing, and very true as he isnt with the team! It's under 10/25/07 notes at www.russianprospects.com
Also I'm trying to find out from my Russian friends, but Artyukhin might be hurt which is why he isnt playing but that cant be found anywhere so its just a rumor for now.

Rumors in Russian newspapers continue to live up to their reputation as good bird cage liner. Vasily Koshechkin returned to the lineup for Kazan Sunday and improved his season record to 3-8-1 helping Ak Bars defeat Nizhnekamsk 5-1. Dimitri Kazionov had a goal in the match for Kazan as well.
