Lighting prospect forward Chris Lawrence scored his first goal of the season tonight against the Florida Everblades in Estero. Defenseman Tim Branham scored a marker just seconds into the 3rd period to draw Augusta within a goal. But goaltender Mike Brodeur, playing in back-to-back games after a spectacular performance the night before, surrendered two short-handed goals in the 3rd as the Lynx dropped their third straight game. After only putting up 3 1st period shots following a lackluster offensive output the night before, Lawrence and Matt Auffrey led the team in putting up 26 2nd and 3rd period shots. Brodeur saw 48 Everblade shots after stopping 47 the night before. Former Lightning defensive prospect Doug O'Brien failed to score on 8 shots in the two games for Everblades.
Augusta falls to 5-5-1-1 and both teams make a trip back to James Brown Arena in Augusta next weekend for back-to-back rematch Friday and Saturday. The Dayton Bombers come into Augusta next Sunday for a matinee tilt against the Lynx.
