Johnstown Chiefs

Partly as a consequence of Artyukhin and Tarnasky being reassigned to Springfield, LW/C Adam Henrich has been reassigned to Johnstown of the ECHL. Henrich recorded an assist in last night's victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack, but that evidently was not enough to spare him the humbling experience of demotion. Henrich, a former 2002 2nd round pick, has the potential to blossom into a power forward in the professional ranks but has been chastized for a poor work ethic and an unwillingness to play in high traffic areas since his Springfield debut last season.

Three third period goals doomed the Chiefs in their first game of the season. Veteran netminder David Currie takes the loss for the Chiefs. Zbynek Hrdel started the game on the top line for Johnstown with Jay Rosehill playing on the second pairing and John Toffey seeing checking line duty.

The Chiefs' home opener and presumably the professional debut of Jonathan Boutin will come tomorrow night in Johnstown against Reading.

Mastovich has an article up on the beginning of the Chiefs' season tonight on the road in Columbia. According to Coach Anzalone, he's leaning towards starting veteran netminder Currie on the road in a hostile environment tonight before starting Lightning prospect Jonathan Boutin tomorrow night in the team's home opener against Reading.

Morgan Cey, who missed all of Johnstown's training camp and their two preseason games, is still nursing a groin injury but is expected to be reassigned to Johnstown next week according to the Lightning. Cey will join netminders Jonathan Boutin and David Currie in Johnstown, whose opener is Friday night in Columbia, SC against the Inferno.

David Currie stopped 28 of 31 in regulation and overtime before winning the shootout. Johnstown improves to 2-0-0-0 on the exhibition season. The club will play their opener Friday at the Columbia Inferno.

According to the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, all three goals in regulation were scored by Lightning prospects. One each were tallied by Zbynek Hrdel, Jay Rosehill and Dennis Packard who also scored the winning goal in the shootout.
