Miami opened their season with a non-conference win over Colgate. Freshman Ryan McKay made 24 saves for the shoutout win. McKay (undrafted) was the goaltending partner of Lightning prospect Adam Wilcox  for USHL Green Bay to start last season before Wilcox was moved to Tri-City.

UND got two goals from Panthers prospect Rocco Grimaldi, who like Brendan O’Donnell, missed considerable time last season due to injury.

Freshman Adam Wilcox watched as sophomore Michael Shibrowski got the start for the Gophers. The two are expected to split time during the first few weeks of the season. Nick Bjugstad (Panthers) had a goal and an assist to be named first star for the game.

Freshman Adam Wilcox made his first collegiate start and stopped 10 of 11 shots against the Spartans. Wilcox last played for Tri-City of the USHL. He is expected to share time in the Minnesota nets with Gophers junior Michael Shibrowski (undrafted) to start the year.
St. Lawrence Saints 4 @ No. 10 Western Michigan Broncos 3 (OT)

Witkowski and the Broncos opened their season at home against St. Lawrence, but were unable to pull out a win, falling in overtime, 4-3. WMU scored twice in the third period to force overtime, including a goal with 31 seconds left in regulation. Junior Jeremy Wick (undrafted) had the game winner for St. Lawrence. It was his fourth career goal.
