Saint John did something no team has done in the history of the QMJHL Wednesday when they clinched the league’s regular season championship for the third straight year. Congrats to the Sea Dogs for that accomplishment. Helping them on Wednesday was newly signed Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier [8](pictured), who tied for the team lead with three points and led the club with a plus-5 rating. Gauthier’s 45th goal of the season opened the game’s scoring. Blues pick Ryan Tesink had two goals and was named first star.
Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 10 @ Gatineau Olympiques 4
D Adam Janosik [9], GAT: Did not play.
Season Totals: 49 GP, 6-25-31, -11, 49 PIM
That smarts. Janosik missed the bloodshed as he is in Slovakia completing some exams. He is expected back by the end of the week.
OHL
Oshawa Generals 2 @ Belleville Bulls 3 (OT)
D Geoffrey Schemitsch [10], OSH: 1-0-1, E, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 47 GP, 2-17-19, +8, 24 PIM
With Oshawa: 20 GP, 2-6-8, +5, 4 PIM
With Owen Sound: 27 GP, 0-11-11, +3, 20 PIM
Schemitsch scored for the second time this season to continue his recent offensive resurgence. He was a 40-point player in his draft year, but due to injuries and circumstance has fallen off that pace in the last two seasons. He is up for an NHL contract at the end of the year.
