The Kelowna Rockets have announced they have officially traded goaltender Torrie Jung to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a sixth round Bantam draft pick in 2010.
Jung joins fellow Lightning prospect Mitch Fadden in Lethbridge. He had been staying at his Nanaimo, B.C. home waiting for a trade. Jung was expected to be Kelowna's No.1 goaltender this year, but a pre-season trade for a more experienced No.1 changed things for the former seventh round pick.
If Jung succeeds and remains with the Hurricanes throughout this season and next, the deal would alter and the Rockets would receive a fifth round pick in 2010.
President/General Manager of the Kelowna Rockets Bruce Hamilton stated, "We worked hard to find Torrie a place to play. This looks like a good opportunity for him and we wish him the best of luck."
The Rockets acquired Jung in the summer of 2006 and he played as the back-up goaltender to Kristofer Westblom the past two seasons.
Last season Jung was 13-12 in 33 games, playing 1843 minutes and had a save percentage of 0.891.
