Radek Smolenak  finally broke the scoresheet for Lightning prospects as his point shot on the power play was banged home by Travis Lisabeth. Mississippi had started the season 0-for-15 on the power play. The Sea Wolves would ultimately earn their first victory of the 2007-2008 season with a 4-3 shootout win over the visiting Pensacola Ice Pilots. Zbynek Hrdel  was held off the score sheet for the second consecutive game, while Marek Kvapil  was apparent scratch for the contest. Neither Smolenak nor Hrdel was used by Mississippi head coach Steffon Walby during the shootout, with Travis Lisabeth finally converting as Walby's sixth shooter.

Former Bolt goaltending prospect Morgan Cey stopped 21 of 24 shots in regulation and was a perfect 6 of 6 in the shootout to earn his first victory. Quoted from the Sun Herald  Cey commented, "We really needed this one and I felt a couple of goals tonight I could have prevented. I really wanted to come up with some saves to give us the best opportunity to win that shootout. I can't remember a time when I have this good of a feeling after a win."
Mississippi's season continues at home next weekend with Friday and Saturday night tilts against the Gwinnett Gladiators.
