Ed Snider doesn't own the Philadelphia Flyers. The Tampa Bay Lightning own the Philadelphia Flyers.
Johan Holmqvist stopped 21 of 23 shots faced for the win including a handful of key saves in the third after the Flyers had pulled within 1 goal to preserve the win.
Tampa Bay 6:50, Jason Ward 2 (Filip Kuba , Jan Hlavac)
Tampa Bay 9:27, Brad Richards 4 (power play) (Chris Gratton , Jan Hlavac)
Philadelphia 11:18, Jeff Carter 6 (unassisted)
Brad Richards with 1 goal and 2 assists was obviously the story of the game. As that Lecavalier and St. Louis line gets opponents' attention, Richards is going to be freed up to rack up numbers. He just needs competent linemates to go along for the ride.
Welcome to multiple points Jan Hlavac. Three, three, three helpers on the night. It's interesting to see what the injection of some energy on that second line (Ward) has done to lift its production.
I'd be surprised of Ouellet's goal isn't changed to Chris Gratton. If not, it'll be Ouellet's first in a Lightning uniform and my guess is that at this point Michel will take whatever he can get.
Paul Ranger has 9 points in 8 games. Flying totally under the radar.
Tonight was arguably Mike Lundin's best night as a pro. He played a season high 21:31 and was +1 with 1 shot on goal. That he did it against the big bad Flyers is impressive.
Through two periods I might've said the same for Matt Smaby , but he was snake bitten in the third period falling down after bumping into a Flyer coming off the bench which resulted in Mike Knuble's goal, and shortly thereafter getting 2 minutes for being big and throwing a legal body check (because being big and throwing a legal body check is an automatic 2 to some of these referees). He finished -1 in 7:41 with 2 hits. Did some good things. I wish the Lightning could get out to a big lead on someone when Smaby's in the lineup so he could get in some extra IT in garbage time.
Mathieu Darche had 1 blocked shot in 13:42. He's smart, active, and he hustles. Pay attention Ouellet.
