TSN Canada is reporting the Lightning has signed 31 year old defenseman Todd Rohloff.
Rohloff, a 6'3" 213 lb. stay at home defenseman, split the 2003-2004 season at the NHL level between the Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets. In 59 games he had 0 goals, 5 assists and 5 points to go with 26 penalty minutes. His career season in the minor leagues came in 1999-2000 with the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks when he had 1 goal and 14 points in 77 games as well as 88 penalty minutes.
A former teammate of Dan Boyle's in college at Miami-OH, the biggest knock on Rohloff is his skating. The native of Grand Rapids, MN will likely battle Timo Helbling for the Lightning's sixth defenseman spot meaning the odd man out will likely provide much needed veteran depth to the Springfield Falcons.
