Holmqvist to Appear For Sweden In Opening Leg of Euro Tour

Sweden has released its roster for the Ceske Pojistovna Cup in September, the first leg in the annual Euro Tour tournaments featuring national teams from Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic and Russia comprised of the best club hockey players in Europe. Team Sweden [url=http://www.swehockey.se/files/{82736D90-0AFE-4404-8EA7-969920EF13E9}.pdf]will feature Lightning defenseman prospect Andreas Holmqvist of Linkopings as well as former Lightning left winger Jimmie Olvestad of Djurgardens.[/url]

Lightning Attempting to Sign Norrena

In what has become in some ways an annual tradition, reports from Sweden indicate[url=http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/sport/story/0,2789,687898,00.html] the Lightning are attempting to sign veteran Finnish netminder Fredrik Norrena.[/url] Norrena, who turns 32 in November, was selected in the 7th round by the Lightning in the 2002 Entry Draft.

Perrin Signs With Swiss Club

The Springfield Falcons will be without the services of veteran center Eric Perrin next season. Perrin, who spent last year playing for the Hershey Bears, [url=http://www.pennlive.com/sports/patriotnews/index.ssf?/base/sports/1124529644225430.xml&coll=1]has opted to leave North America to play for Bern in the Swiss NLA.[/url] Veteran Falcons winger Shane Willis is also reportedly considering an offer to play in Switzerland this season. Perrin joins Lightning property Eero Somervuori in Switzerland. Somervuori left SM-liiga club Karpat for Ambri-Piotta at the end of the Finnish leagues season.

Lightning Sign Four for Springfield

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed four players August 18 that will likely spend the majority of the 2005-06 season with AHL Springfield. Returning to the Falcons are 2004-05 Springfield MVP goalie Brian Eklund, center Jason Jaspers, and late-season acquisition right wing Jim Campbell. Also joining the Falcons is former OHL scoring star Norm Milley (pictured), a right winger who hails from the Buffalo Sabres organization.

Lightning Pull Offer to Alexeev

Tom Jones of the St. Pete Times reports [url=http://www.sptimes.com/2005/08/17/Lightning/275M_for_Vinny.shtml]the Lightning have pulled their contract offer to prospect winger Nikita Alexeev off the table.[/url] Alexeev, who reportedly just signed a deal to play for Superleague club Avangard Omsk, is expected to play in his native Russia this season.
