Norrena On First Losing Streak

Fredrik Norrena has lost back to back games for the first time this season. Today, Linkopings lost to Timra 2-0 on the strength of a Jussi Tarvainen shutout. Meanwhile, on the Isle of Elba... Jean-Francois Soucy notched an assist in Phoenix's season opening 4-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies. The Roadrunners got a taste of Soucy's oft-hidden offensive capabilities in an intra-squad scrimmage which took place Wednesday just after Soucy's reassignment to Phoenix. In that game Soucy had a hat trick including the game-tying goal with just 35 seconds left.

Artyukhin/Tarnasky Sent Back Down, Temporarily

Erik Erlendsson reports in the Trib that Evgeny Artyukhin and Nick Tarnasky have been sent down to Springfield of the AHL. The move is expected to be only a temporary measure to save cap room with the Lightning having a 4 days off until they play New Jersey Wednesday night. It is expected Tarnasky and Artyukhin will be recalled from Springfield at that time.

Game Night 10/21: Senators at Lightning

The Lightning's perennial woes against the Ottawa Senators continue as the roller coaster that is the '05-'06 Tampa Bay Lightning found a trough on the rails again tonight. OTT-4 TB-1 Nick Tarnasky and Evgeny Artyukhin found themselves involved in some physical altercations late in the game, most notably an Evgeny Artyukhin hit from behind that probably should've been a major opening up Patrick Eaves. Artyukhin with 7:05 of ice time, 1 shot on goal and 2 hits. Nick Tarnasky finished with 6:35 of ice time with 1 shot on goal, 1 hit, 1 takeaway, 37% on faceoffs and 2 PIMs. Logic dictates there will be some roster movement soon on the lower lines.

Game Night 10/21: Wolf Pack at Falcons

The Atlantic Division will be in trouble if the Falcons ever learn to protect a late lead. HFD-3 SPR-4 (Final OT) Jim Campbell, who scored the OT power play game winner, got the first star of the game. Jason Jaspers, who had 2G 1A, was the second star. Ryan Craig, who had 1G 1A, was the third star. Brian Eklund made 30 saves on 33 shots for the victory. Adam Henrich emerged from the doghouse for an assist tonight. Darren Reid grabs an assist on each of Jaspers' goal. Game sheet can be found via TheAHL.com.
