You know its sad when a guy who ran the print magazine version of HockeysFuture into the ground after just 3 issues has more credibility than the current band of hacks that occupy the editorial position at that empty shell of a website. And yet, that's where we are. Shane Malloy has more journalistic credibility than Holly Gunning (HF's online editor) and Ken McKenna (HF's managing editor). How do I know this? Because Shane Malloy actually did a shred of homework before writing an article about the Lightning organization and Gunning and company clearly didn't. HockeysFuture released their Spring organizational rankings today, and first let me say it's a really bright thing to release rankings a week and a half into the CHL playoffs. After all, it's not like the postseason is important or anything. Yes Holly, that's sarcasm. In any event, once again the biased HockeysFuture editorial staff and their intrepid band of statistic cut and pasters have pegged the Lightning 30th in the league in terms of prospects. On the eve of the graduation of the third Lightning prospect the club has placed into the NHL this season no less! Gotta give 'em credit for having chutzpah. No clue, but they've definitely got chutzpah.

When Ryan Craig takes the ice tomorrow night at the Forum against the Panthers he will be in his 41st game of the season for the Lightning. By Bolt Prospects criteria, that will graduate him from prospect status making him the third Lightning prospect to become a full fledged NHLer this season. Congratulations to Craig for reaching this milestone.

There were no Lightning prospects in action in the CHL Playoffs last night. QMJHL Chicoutimi (Stanislav Lascek) continues to rest after sweeping Baie-Comeau in the first round of the QMJHL playoffs. OHL Kevin Beech had a 33 save shutout as Sudbury defeated Kingston 4-0 to advance to the second round of the OHL playoffs winning their series 4-2. Beech was named second star of the game. Radek Smolenak's season comes to an end in a game where he was scoreless and -1 with 2 PIMs for Kingston. WHL Moose Jaw triumphed tonight in a pivotal game five defeating Brandon 1-0 to take a 3-2 series lead. Blair Jones scored the only goal of the game and was named second star in the win. Kelowna defeated Kootenay 5-2 to win their first round series 4-2. Justin Keller was scoreless and even in the game. The Rockets won three straight games after falling behind 2-1 earlier in the series.

It's just painful. SPR-2 PRO-6 Gerald Coleman stopped just 29 of 35 in the loss. Springfield got a power play goal from Ryan Vesce in the first on the power play from PJ Atherton and Dan Cavanaugh and a garbage time goal with 19 seconds left from Jason Jaspers. Jaspers' goal was his 25th from Kvapil and Blatny. Kvapil has 17 goals and 41 points in 72 games as a rookie.
