CHL Game Night 10/14: The MASH Edition

Chris Lawrence and Marek Bartanus were both injury scratches tonight as Owen Sound took on Mississauga. Vladmimir Mihalik was an injury scratch for Prince George against Lethbridge. Dane Crowley did not dress for Swift Current's matchup with Regina.

AHL Game Night 10/14: Falcons at N. Admirals

Ouch. SPR-1 NOR-8 Sean Burke allowed 5 goals on 14 shots for the loss before being lifted for Karri Ramo who allowed 3 on 17. Jared Aulin scored the lone Falcons goal. Marek Kvapil was a scratch for Springfield. It should also be noted Ramo got multiple penalties for leaving the crease and initiating a fight with Admirals goaltender Sebastien Caron in a bloody and fight marred third period. Game sheet from TheAHL.com. Following this disasterous effort I expect some changes might be made before next weekend's batch of game. It was already a likelihood that some of the lower line/healthy scratches like Deveaux, Henrich or Hrdel might be on their way down for Johnstown's opener, but given the strong play of Lascek and Smolenak in the Chiefs' preseason games this weekend, now might be the time for Springfield to entertain more wholesale changes.

Preseason ECHL Game Night 10/14: Nailers at Chiefs

And the over/under for Stan Lascek's recall to Springfield now is set at ohhhhh, about 5 minutes. WHE-3 JHN-5 Lascek again led the offense for the Chiefs with 2 goals, 1 an empty netter, and an assist. Linemate Gus Katsuras had 1 goal and 1 assist and Radek Smolenak had 1 helper. The other Johnstown goals were scored by Doug Andress and Jean Desrochers with individual helpers going to PJ Atherton, Ben Wallace, John Toffey and Andrew Martens. Gerald Coleman got the win before giving way to Morgan Cey who allowed all three Nailers goals. NHL Game Night 10/14: Panthers at Lightning

Big win. FLA-1 TB-4 Martin St. Louis finally got his first goal of the season and goals were also added by Lecavalier, Fedotenko and Afansenkov. Overage prospect Eric Perrin got a helper on Afanasenkov's third period wrap around goal. Marc Denis stopped 23 of 24 for the win. Game sheet from NHL.com. Hopefully this game starts to rejuvenate the offense, although Brad Richards still has yet to talley his first goal. Doug Janik was even in 16:14 with 1 shot, 1 hit and 1 block. Eric Perrin was +1 in 13:50 and 50% on draws. Nick Tarnasky played his best game of the year thus far with 2 shots in 5:10. It seems the more the Lightning can get multi-goal leads, the more they'll be willing to give Tarnasky on the job training.

Saturday's Superleague Scores

Vasily Koshechkin got the day off as Mike Fountain backstopped Togliatti to a 2-1 win over Chekhov. So far this season, Koshechkin has gotten the benefit of Fountain's experience but still retained the lion's share of Lada's starts, so it's seemingly been a win-win situation thus far. Evgeny Artyukhin was scoreless in Yaroslavl's 5-2 win over SKA. He did, however, manage to run his penalty minute total to 70 in 14 games. Anton But was scoreless for St. Petersburg in the loss. Denis Kazionov was scoreless in Tver's 6-5 loss to Omsk. The 2006 7th round pick is still looking for his first point of the season.
