Ramo Wins Best Goaltender at AHL Skills Competition

Have we mentioned he's just 20? Karri Ramo continued to expand his reputation as a wunderkind tonight in winning the Top Goaltender Award at the AHL Skills Competition. Ramo tied for best in the competition with 15 saves including 7 of 10 in the rapid fire, 3 of 3 in the 3-on-0 event and 4
5 of 6 in the breakaway event. Congratulations to Karri on another great night in an already great rookie season.

ECHL Game Day 1/28: Bombers at Chiefs

Unfortunately, it looks like things might be getting a little worse in Johnstown before they get better.

DAY-3
JHN-1

Gerald Coleman stopped 29 of 32 shots faced in his first start since returning from a groin injury. Randy Rowe scored the lone Chiefs goal off an assist from Jean Desrochers. Rowe was named the third star of the game.

One small editorial: where is Zbynek Hrdel? Other than the side of a milk carton? Hrdel is scoreless in his last 5 games and has just 1 assist in his last 7 at a level of hockey where he should be a consistent scoring line player. Hrdel has another year on his contract after this one, but he's quietly playing himself out of the organization, in my opinion, unless he starts to pick it up.

First Period
DAY Herneisen, (7) (Tifu, Maiser), 14:35

Second Period
DAY Walton, (11) (Farynuk, Maiser), 2:13 (PP)
JHN Rowe, (11) (Desrochers), 6:13

Third Period
DAY Cullen, (5) (Farynuk, Ford), 1:29 (PP)

Sunday's Superleague Score

Evgeny Artyukhin was scoreless in Yaroslavl's 4-1 win over Kazan. Dimitri Kazionov was scoreless in the match for Kazan.

Through 40 games, Artyukhin has 4 goals and 12 points with 161 penalty minutes and an even rating. He is currently second in the Superleague in penalty minutes well back of former Lightning tough guy Reid Simpson.

In 39 games with Kazan, the older Kazionov has 9 goals and 18 points with 20 penalty minutes and a +15 rating. His +/- is currently the 9th best in the Superleague.

CHL Game Night: 1/27

Kevin Beech played just one period against the Kitchener Rangers tonight, stopping only 13 of 17 shots. He was pulled after the first period. The Rangers went on to beat Erie 8-1 in Erie.

The Rangers remain one point behind London in the Midwest Division thanks to London's 8-2 win over Marek Bartanus and Owen Sound in Owen Sound. Bartanus' pointless streak hit 11 games as he was scoreless. He was also minus-2, which extends his streak without finishing a game with a plus rating to 23.

In the WHL, Prince George fell to Tri-City for the second straight night, this time 4-2. Both games were played in Prince George. Vladimir Mihalik did not register a point, but was plus-1 and had 2 PIM.

Dane Crowley and Everett made the short trip to Seattle and defeated the Thunderbirds 3-1. Crowley's four game point streak came to an end. He was plus-1 for the game.

ECHL Game Night 1/27: Lynx at Chiefs

Well, it's a fair sight better than getting killed 7-2 like the last time they played Augusta.

AUG-6
JHN-4

Morgan Cey stopped 22 of 26 shots through 40 minutes before giving way to Gerald Coleman who stopped just 3 of 5 shots faced to take the hard luck loss in relief. Brandon Elliot, amazingly, led the Chiefs offensively with 2 goals and 1 assist while Dimitri Tarabrin had 1 goal and 2 assists. Stanislav Lascek also had a multi-point night with 1 goal and 1 assist as well as a game high 9 shots on goal. Ben Wallace, Jean Desrochers, Grant Jacobsen and John Adams each had individual helpers.
