Rogers Ejected as Kelowna Crushes No. 7 Prince George

Andy Rogers of the Prince George Cougars was ejected in the third period of a 7-1 blowout loss to Justin Keller and the Kelowna Rockets Wednesday night. Down 6-1 late in the third, Rogers took a checking-from-behind major penalty and subsequently a five minute fighting major against 6-foot-1 Kelowna winger Liam Couture. Both received game misconducts. Rogers was minus-one at that point in the game. Keller, on the other hand, had a goal and an assist to go with a plus-one rating for the game. His goal was his 13th of the year. Kelowna, who has struggled of late, had no problem with the 13-6-0-2 Cougars, the CHLâ€™s No.7 team in the most recent CHL Mosaik MasterCard Top-10. In other action Wednesday night, the CHLâ€™s No. 5 team, the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, were paced by Stanislav Lascekâ€™s 17th goal and QMJHL-leading 28th assist as Chicoutimi beat Cape Breton 5-2. Lascek was a team-high plus-three for the game and had two penalty minutes. Also Wednesday, Owen Sound beat Plymouth in a shootout, 7-6. Marek Bartanus was scoreless and minus-one. He had a third period holding penalty. The Sault Ste. Marie-Sarnia match up in the Soo was postponed until February due to inclement weather. In the WHL, Kamloops beat Red Deer 2-1, with Vladimir Mihalik going scoreless and earning a minus-one rating. Finally, Blair Jones led Moose Jaw to a 5-0 shutout win over Brandon by scoring a goal and adding two assists. The Warriors outshot Ryan Craigâ€™s alma mater 55-22. Jones was not named a star of the game.
