ECHL Game Night 1/8: Stingrays @ Sea Wolves

The Mississippi Sea Wolves picked up their lunch buckets and battled out a shootout win over the South Carolina Stingrays Tuesday to extend their season best win streak to five games. Ryan Munce improved to 9-2 on the season with the Wolves stopping 25 shots in regulation and overtime, and four more in the shootout to earn Third Star honors. It is Munce's fifth straight victory. Marek Kvapil had a goal and an assist and scored one of Mississippi's two shootout markers enroute to earning Second Star honors. Kvapil was credited with the game's first goal when a faulty pass from a South Carolina player ricocheted off the skate of Stingrays goalie Josh Johnson and past him to give the Wolves an early 1-0 lead.

Kvapil has been playing

Kvapil has been playing better lately... however, the goal that he was given credit for he had nothing to do with that I see.... The puck was dumped in my JTechj and came to the Carolina D man, Kvapil slashed at the guys stick and in his hurried attempt to clear the zone threw it in front of the net and it went in off the goalies skate... the ref came up to the crowd of seawolves and asked who was the last to touch it and JTech pointed to Kvapil... at a different point in the game Kvapil slipped the d men on a lead pass and went in alone on goal and he made a hell of a move but the goalie came back across his body and stood on his head to make the stop, the funny part he was the first shooter in the shootout did the exact same move and scored, cracking me up he was talking crap to the SC goalie on the way back to the bench... munce played great again and one of munce's goals was off a deflection in front and he couldnt do anything about...

Thanks for the update

Yeah... I knew that about Kvapil's first goals, which is why I put that in the report. Kvapil's got some moves and it's good to see that he's playing better lately. I'm excited about how the team has come together and is turning things around. Munce seems to be an important piece of the team.

What's up with Brandon Elliott? I'm assuming he's hurt. Do you any details on what/when happened and how much longer he'll be out?

The last I heard on Elliott was upper body injury... I dont know that I have seen him around at the games though hanging around the locker room or the owners box... come to think of it the last time I saw him was at the Thanksgiving dinner... then he played a few on the road...he wasnt playing great when he was playing, I think they are trying to put him in an enforcer role... and with Angel we have that wrapped up... I can find out Tuesday before the game and will post something when I find out... our orig. enforcer Kinkel was splitting time with Elliott and he quit the team... thats when they brought down Angel... I suppose we will see what happens... btw I almost witnessed Kvapil going into the corner for a puck... he got rubbed off by two guys maybe he wont think about that next time...
