Munce Reassigned to Mississippi

The Norfolk Admirals have reassigned goaltender Ryan Munce to Mississippi of the ECHL.

Taking Munce's spot on Norfolk's roster will be goaltender Karl Goehring, who has been signed to a PTO contract. Goehring, 29, was 0-1-0 in 2 games this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with a 2.11 GAA and .909 save percentage. The 5'8" 160 lbs goaltender spent last season with Milwaukee of the AHL where he compiled a 22-15-4 record with a 2.69 GAA and .908 save percentage. Goehring, born in Apple Valley, MN, played his college hockey with North Dakota.

The Admirals also released forward Mark Rooneem from his PTO contract.

Reasoning

Was there any real reason given for this move??? I thought all reports on Munce were positive

He Started Strong.... But

He started strong, but tailed off. And Boutin came in a did well. And to Stirling, Boutin was a known quantity and Munce was not. His playing time had dwindled to nothing. So off to MS he goes. Goehring is an experienced goalie with good career numbers.

When Ramo returns, that is going to open up all sorts of possibilities not only for Norfolk, but Tampa as well.

It is just a crazy situation in Bolts goaltender land.

Hmmm...

This makes you think something else is coming down the pike. Ramo should be back soon so NF could have waited if it were goalie depth they were worried about. Since they feel the need to sign a experienced backup I think Ramo is heading to the big show.

Anyone want to guess where Denis ends up? Off the top of the Skyway??

Tin Foil Hat Time

If you really want to delve into the land of conspiracy theories and scenarios... has anyone figured out where Vasily Koshechkin is landing yet? Kazan now has Esche AND Noronen back from injury (sad, but Ak Bars Kazan may have a better goaltending tandem than Tampa Bay does).

I think if Ramo doesn't completely step on his unit in his first couple of weeks back with Norfolk he's going to Tampa to be the backup. Holmer can't play every game this season, and Torts won't concede games by putting a goaltender in who he has no faith in (Denis).

Well

I had been seriously considering the Vasily scenario but I was affraid I would mention how much I would like TB to try and sign R2 as well (since I think hes a free man also) and get tar-and-feathered by everyone on this board in the process ....oooops...

R2--- 2-way

I like the idea..sign Arty to a 2 way and let him stir it up down in Norfolk. Then if he does, and the Lightning hit a skid, let him come to Tampa and stir it up. I wasn't convinced that Andre is a Brashear-like heavy weight the other night; although he held his own. Brashear took a run at Vinny later...Maybe we should have sent our "new" Daddy after him!

Is R2 still being paid? What are his options?

The BP guys would have to

The BP guys would have to confirm but I think there is only one open contract slot left under the 50 contract max rule. So the Lightning signing R2 and Vasily can't be done without buying out or trading some players.

If there still is one slot left then Goehring could be signed if/when Ramo get assigned to Tampa.

Thanks...

We can use him down here on the coast. Cey has been playing pretty good except for an occasional "I can't believe that got past him" goal. Maybe Munce can hold up a little better under our less than stellar defense and far too frequent penalty killing.
