Karlsson Still on the Shelf

Damian Crisdotero reports on his blog that forward Andreas Karlsson will not make it back for Wednesday's game against Florida. It was anticipated that Karlsson, suffering from an abdominal strain, might be back for the front end of the two game set against the Panthers but it does not appear to be in the cards.

Condolences to Admirals fans as it looks like Norfolk won't get Mathieu Darche back in time for their upcoming game this Friday against Bridgeport. Norfolk has three games in three nights this weekend, including a grudge match in Springfield on Sunday afternoon.

Such is Life in the AHL

I hope Darche can make the best of this opportunity in Tampa. But I have the distinct feeling that once Karlsson is healthy, Darche is coming here.

I frankly don't see Darche playing at all for us this weekend, except and unless Karlsson has the miracle recovery.

But following an AHL affiliate for the last 8 years, this is part of what happens to the affiliate. We are here to supply players to Tampa, either as a result of injury or poor play of someone in Tampa.

It is frustrating to the fan here, but this is what players like Darche, MacDonald, Smaby and Lundin are waiting for, the chance to play for the big club. Sooner or later, once certain players come back from injury, one or more of those players mentioned above will come to Norfolk.

So hopefully, some of our players can step it up offensively this weekend. It will be a tough 3 day roadtrip with two of those games less than 24 hours apart. Maybe they will play like to the team in the 3rd period in Philly.

But a note to Karlsson, get well soon!

I'm hoping for 2-1 this

I'm hoping for 2-1 this weekend, and head into the home opener at .500 against Binghamton, which sucked last season as I recall, with a chance to be 4-2 at the end of that set.

The pressure falls squarely on Jones, Kvapil, Keller, and Milley to score some goals. You know Wanvig's going to get his and you know the veteran defense and Ramo are going to be better this weekend.

The bad news of a 3 in 3 set is Munce is going to get a start. That's potentially not good.
