Sea Wolves Camp Opens

The long-awaited return of professional hockey to the Gulf Coast region takes another important step today with Mississippi Sea Wolves reporting this morning for team physicals. Around lunchtime, the team with board a bus enroute for Beaumont, TX for Friday's start of the 2007 Sea Wolves training camp.

The Sea Wolves will remain in the Lone Star state until next weekend, playing two exhibition games October 12 and 13 against the Texas Brahmas and the Austin Ice Bats. The team will return to Biloxi before heading to Tampa for more training before the season opener against the Florida Everblades on October 19.

Sea Wolves skipper Steffon Walby indicated camp would open with a roster of about 20 players with five to six more expected to join the team after the Norfolk Admirals trim their camp roster.

Single game tickets for the Sea Wolves home opener October 27 against Reading go on sale today at 10 am. A trip to see the Tampa Bay Lightning will be given away the night of the home opener.

I Think He Will Be Disappointed

Steffon Walby thinks he is going to get 5 or 6 players from the Admirals. Right now there are 25 players on the ADs roster. Coach Stirling says he is going to carry 21 or 22 players. So at best he will get 4 players. And since out of 25 players on the ADs roster, 11 or them are dmen, he'll be lucky to wind up with a maximum of 4 dmen. This would hold true when and if Darche is sent down after Karlsson gets healthy.

Lascek

I got an e-mail from someone from Chicoutimi who said that Lascek is injured and will be out for a while.
