Boyle Out 3-6 Weeks

Son of a gun. Dan Boyle had a freak accident involving a skate falling out of his locker after tonight's preseason game against the Capitals. According to Erik Erlendsson's blog the blade of the skate caught Boyle's wrist, which will now require surgery.

The good news is that Vincent Lecavalier's undisclosed injury is evidently not serious.

Least it happened now instead of during the season. Hopefully the surgery goes well and he is only out 3 weeks. Guess this opens up another defensive spot.

Abductor Tendon

Cristodero says the skate went through the abductor tendon, which unless I'm mistaken, is on the thumb side.

This could be ugly.

DC also speculates Janik is leading for what was the No.6 spot.
