NHL Game Night 3/24: Senators at Lightning

That's not the response I expected tonight.

OTT-7
TB-2

Marc Denis allowed 5 goals on 23 points in the loss before being spelled by Karri Ramo who allowed 2 goals on 5 shots the rest of the way. Just a bad spot for the kid to get into. Dan Boyle had both Lightning goals and Vincent Lecavalier had a pair of assists. Vaclav Prospal and Martin St. Louis added individual helpers.

The Lightning squandered an opportunity to climb to even with the Thrashers with the loss after having watched Atlanta lose an afternoon game to Pittsburgh. With just six games left to go in the season, the Lightning remain two points back with one head-to-head matchup left in the finale of the regular season.

Goaltending

The team has yet to recover from the loss of the Wall. Denis, who all thought would be an improve on last year each day looks more like Johnny boy who we dumped. The only reason we are in the hunt for a weak playoff spot is Homqvist. He has consistency problems for sure but is the best bet. On the 1st goal last night i wanted Ramo. Give the kid a shot that did not work out too well, but as you stated it was a tough spot.
Hopefully they don't cave to out of the playoffs..... I want to see some playoff hockey live in tampa knowing that we will be lucky to make it past the first round unless holmqvist get's hot in goal. Sounds more like the wait till next year..... who will be gone from the team? Vinny, Marty or Rich at least one must go if we can't make the second round. Feaster is also in the hot seat along with torts. Remember they both felt Denis was the 'Trade' and last year it was Burke.... someone pays for those bad purchases. Maybe we can have a yard sale for Denis......

Denis looked awful, but no

Denis looked awful, but no different of a performance than what he put up against the Devils. Difference is Ottawa has the guys that can bury what NJ couldnt. I felt terrible for Ramo watching that this morning, being thrown to the wolves in the third with zero defense because everyone and their brother thought pinching for goals was a great idea and that keeping someone back wasnt necessary.

Sadly Holmqvist for now is the answer (and that isnt saying much, maybe if he'd learn some positioning), but if he isnt ready for Tuesday, I'd like to see Ramo be given a shot with time to preapre for the game mentally and know he's going in even, not being Marc's garbage man. Denis has wasted his opportunities this year if you ask me, but again...this is all just my opinion
