Linkopings/Lulea Game Three

Andreas Holmqvist is playing like a man possessed.

Linkopings took a commanding 3-0 lead in their opening round Elitserien playoff series today defeating Lulea 2-1. Lightning prospect Andreas Holmqvist led the way scoring a goal on a 2-man power play advantage and adding a power play assist. Through three playoff games Holmqvist leads Linkopings in scoring with 2 goals, 5 points, 2 penalty minutes and a -1 rating. Game Four of the series is slated for Monday.

With Holmqvist playing so well, it's likely Holmqvist will earn a spot on the Swedish World Championships team and could see a considerable amount of ice time for a young Elitserien player. A good World Championships might very well clinch a contract with the Lightning who are not only short on offensive defensemen in the system but also short on right handed defensemen. The fit looks good and the time might be right to bring Andreas back to North America.

Re: Andreas Holmqvist

I wonder if it will take a 1-way contract to get him to come back over - or does he WANT to come over bad enough to accept a 2-way deal.

It took a one-way for Johan Holmqvist, but Norrena took a 2-way (unless I'm remembering that incorrectly). I don't think either of those are perfect examples, and Alexeev could be - but he was practically begging to return.

Do you sign Andreas to a one-way if that's what it takes?

Only if its for 450K for 1

Only if its for 450K for 1 year and Mikael Andersson tells me he's 1/2 a season in the AHL or less from the NHL.
