CHL Game Night: 1/6
Chris Lawrence scored his 24th goal of the year and added two assists to help Mississauga to a 4-2 home win over Oshawa this afternoon. He was also plus-1. The 6-4 winger opened the game with a power play goal before adding a power play assist with 5 minutes left in the second period. He then set up fellow winger Jadran Beljo with 6 seconds left in the middle period to give the Ice Dogs a 4-1 lead.
Marek Bartanus has yet to join Owen Sound following the conclusion of the WJCs in Sweden. The Attack fell at home to Kingston tonight 4-3.
Kevin Beech had a good showing for the second night in a row - but Beech and Sudbury lost in a shootout for the second night in a row. Beech stopped 30 of 31 shots in regulation and overtime before stopping 1 of 2 attempts in the shootout. The Wolves went 0 for 3 in the shootout and Sault Ste. Marie took the win, 2-1. Sudbury's Patrik Lusnak had scored with 2 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Beech was named the game's second star for his efforts.
In the WHL, Dane Crowley and Swift Current fell 6-2 on the road in Regina, one night after crushing the Pats 9-0 in Swift Current. Crowley, who had a goal last night, was scoreless tonight with a minus-1 rating and had an early first period fighting major vs. Mike Reich. Reich earned a 10-minute misconduct in addition to a fighting major.

That snaps Crowley's point
That snaps Crowley's point streak at something like 8 games, correct?
I'm new here... 7 (and more on the fight)
That's what I get for taking time off of CHL coverage... YES, last night ended Crowley's point streak - at 7. The streak lasted from December 9 to January 5. Crowley had 2 goals and 7 assists in those 7 games. The streak was tied for the 38th longest in the league thus far.
On the fight with Mike Reich last night... apparently in the mid-third of the 9-0 game on Friday Reich charged across the ice and attacked Swift Current's "agitator," Levi Nelson. Reich, who's 5-11, 196 and has over 100 PIM so far this year, was given 2 for tripping, 2 for instigating, 5 for fighting, and a 10 minute misconduct. Nelson got 2 for roughing.
On Reich's first shift after this - which was less than 2 minutes into the first period last night, Crowley took him on. HockeyFights.com doesn't have any details on it yet. Neither paper has a game story on it yet, either and I've got only this little bit from MBs.
Reich has 11 fighting majors this year - including the one-sided fight with Nelson. Crowley has 4. Reich has gone with Mike's Egener's brother, Luke, twice this year.
