AHL Game Night 10/14: Falcons at N. Admirals

Ouch. SPR-1 NOR-8 Sean Burke allowed 5 goals on 14 shots for the loss before being lifted for Karri Ramo who allowed 3 on 17. Jared Aulin scored the lone Falcons goal. Marek Kvapil was a scratch for Springfield. It should also be noted Ramo got multiple penalties for leaving the crease and initiating a fight with Admirals goaltender Sebastien Caron in a bloody and fight marred third period. Game sheet from TheAHL.com. Following this disasterous effort I expect some changes might be made before next weekend's batch of game. It was already a likelihood that some of the lower line/healthy scratches like Deveaux, Henrich or Hrdel might be on their way down for Johnstown's opener, but given the strong play of Lascek and Smolenak in the Chiefs' preseason games this weekend, now might be the time for Springfield to entertain more wholesale changes.

Burke - Looking for the Puck

Like most things for the Bolts this year not working out as expected. Management is counting on Burke doing well in Springfield to make him marketable. A few more like this and all the league will know he is worthless and we will not be-able to move him for cap space needed at the trading deadline. I smell blockbuster trade coming in the not too distant future!

Horrific Officials

The Falcons had referee Terry Koharski for both games this weekend and it was a disaster. There were FIFTY FIVE penalties called in two days. That has to be some kind of record...... Not an excuse for poor play, but we all know what happens when a team is entirely frustrated by pathetic penalty calling.
