One point further away from Tavares or Hedman?

    TB-3 (OT)

Karri Ramo allowed 4 goals on 36 shots for the overtime loss. His rebound control needs work, but he was fairly sharp in this one.

    Third Period
03:28 TB St. Louis (23), (Lecavalier, Stamkos)

12:10 TB Pettinger (3), (Halpern, Artyukhin)
19:44 TB Stamkos (14), (Murphy, St. Louis)

00:27 STL Boyes (26), (Colaiacovo, McDonald)

Noah Welch was -1 with 2 penalty minutes, 1 shot, 4 hits, and 2 blocked shots in 23:06. He's servicable, if unspectacular.

Matt Smaby was -1 with 1 shot, 5 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 23:23. He took a skate to the cheek and hardly missed a shift. You can make a very strong case that he's been the team's best d-man over the last month.

David Koci had 1 hit in 6:52.

Martins Karsums was -1 with 2 shots, 2 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 10:59. You can see the attraction from the Lightning's end: he's a good skater with decent burst and feisty for an average sized player.

Brandon Segal had 2 shots and 3 hits in 12:50. He had some good moments tonight on the forecheck but shanked a rebound off a Karsums shot that should've been his first NHL goal.

Devils can't keep up with the Joneses.

Riku Helenius allowed just 1 goal on 32 shots for the win. He improves his record to 6-7-0 on the season with a 2.27 GAA, 1 shutout, and a .932 save percentage.

    First Period
    NOR Jones, (14) (Boyle), 7:16
    LOW Vasyunov, (12) (Eckford), 17:42

    Second Period
NOR Keller, (13) (Henley, Konopka), 7:27
NOR Jones, (15) (Smolenak, Hooton), 15:56

    Third Period
NOR Lundin, (4) (Simek, Quick), 2:15

Blair Jones, Helenius, and Mike Lundin were named the game's three stars.

Jones sets new career highs in goals (15) and points (43) in 12 less games than he played in his previous career season last year. He has 4 goals in his last 2 games and he and Juraj Simek appear to be the beneficiaries of the recent callups and injuries that have redistributed ice time.

    Spokane Chiefs 4 @ Seattle Thunderbirds 2
G Dustin Tokarski, SPO: Win, 34 saves on 36 shots
    Season totals: 48 GP, 31-15-0-2, 1.94 GAA, .937 sv%, 7 shutouts

Tokarski got revenge on Calvin Pickard and Seattle for a recent loss and set career high for wins in the process. Seattle had beaten Spokane 3-0 on February 20. Drayson Bowman (Carolina) had two goals for the Chiefs. Spokane would need a miracle to catch Tri-City for first in the US Division and second in the conference (10 points back), and are more concerned about holding onto the three seed as they’re just three points ahead of Kelowna. They’ll play Seattle (5th – 67 points) or Kamloops (6th – 66 points) in the first round.

    Trade deadline tomorrow.

Karri Ramo allowed 3 goals on 33 shots for the lost. He made some solid saves, but struggled with his rebound control. Still, I think if he gives the Lightning more games like this (.900+ save percentage and no softies) they'll be pretty satisfied.

    First Period
    07:38 PIT Kunitz (18), (Kennedy)
12:23 TB Prospal (17), (Lecavalier, Malone)
    16:44 PIT Kunitz (19), (Sykora, Malkin)(PP)

    Second Period
12:26 PIT Cooke (9), (Dupuis, Talbot)

    Third Period

Mark Recchi and Gary Roberts were held out pending likely trades or waiver claims tomorrow.

Matt Smaby was +1 with 1 shot, 2 hits, and 2 blocked shots in 22:33.

David Koci was -1 with 1 blocked shot in 6:43. Pittsburgh's third goal was on him.

Brandon Segal had 1 hit and 1 blocked shot in 14:45. First impressions: he didn't look completely out of place as far his skating goes. If he gets more decisive when he goes to the wall, I think he could do some business up top.

Paul Szczechura had 2 shots, 2 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 13:53.

Didn't see that coming. Pleasant surprise.

Riku Helenius allowed 1 goal on 28 shots for the win.

    First Period
BRI Smith, (25) (Walter, Kohn), 1:19
NOR Rosehill, (5) (Simek, Zingoni), 7:41

    Second Period
    NOR Simek, (5) , 10:13

    Third Period
NOR Bochenski, (24) (Keller, Konopka), 19:32 (EN)

Juraj Simek and Helenius were the game's first and second stars.

Norfolk managed to outshoot Bridgeport 43-28 in the game despite callups that left the team so depleted it had to sign forward Paul McIlveen and defenseman Wes Cunningham from Elmira of the ECHL just to flesh out their roster for the night.

    Portland Winter Hawks 3 @ Tri-City Americans 5
    C Mitch Fadden, TC: 1-0-1, -1, 0 PIM
    Season totals: 57 GP, 36-37-73, +26, 49 PIM
    With TC: 48 GP, 34-34-68, +24, 41 PIM

Fadden’s goal streak is now at nine games. He tied his career high for goals in a year – 36 – set two seasons ago with Lethbridge in 71 games. TC was playing without goaltender Chet Pickard, who was injured in the American's game against Spokane Saturday night when he was run over by Spokane's Ryan Letts - igniting a brawl - one of two on the night (Spokane's third and fourth of the year).

    Vancouver Giants 6 @ Chilliwack Bruins 3
C James Wright, VAN: 0-1-1, +1, 5 PIM (Fighting vs. Brandon Manning)
    Season totals: 64 GP, 19-25-44, +21, 46 PIM

Wright now has points in five of his last six games. Evander Kane had a goal and a fight.

Note: There were two QMJHL prospects in action, Michael Ward (CB 4 A-B 3) and Mark Barberio (SHW 7 MCT 0), but the Q site has made some upgrades and the game summaries and stats aren't working at the moment.
