    Pull the trigger, Steve.

No box score tonight. No big, long commentary. I figure that since the team didn't seem to care, once they got their whopping 1-0 lead tonight early in the first period, why should I? That's the second-worst team in the conference, record-wise, and not only did they kill the Lightning 5-1, but the Lightning looked toothless offensively and clueless defensively. It could've been 8 or 9-1 without Garon.

When the locker room fails to police itself and the coach can't seem to fix the situation, it falls to the GM. There's passengers on this roster; guys who either won't or can't compete anymore. Trade them, waive them, or load them up in a cannon and shoot them to the moon (realign them to another planet, for all I care). But, don't waste Lightning fans' time by making them keep watching these guys go through the motions anymore.

    KHL (Russia):
    Chelyabinsk 2 @ Ekaterinburg 1 (OT)
    Nikita Nesterov, Chelyabinsk, 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 0 SOG
    Season totals (KHL): 7 GP, 0-0-0, +9, 4 PIM
    Season totals (MHL): 23 GP, 6-9-15, +12, 20 PIM

Nikita Nesterov was scoreless in 9:50 in Chelyabnisk's 2-1 overtime win over Ekaterinburg. Ex-Leafs draft pick Vladimir Antipov had the overtime winner. The two teams rematch on Friday.

    Dynamo Moscow 2 @ Cherepovets 1
    Vasily Koshechkin, Cherepovets, DNP
    Season totals: 20 GP, 9-8-0, 1 SO, 2.76 GAA, .914 sv%

Vasily Koshechkin did not dress in Cherepovets' 2-1 loss to Dynamo Moscow. Ex-Lightning prospect Marek Kvapil had the winner for Dynamo, his 6th of the season. Cherepovets draws Novgorod on Thursday.

Word on the street: the latest rumor is that Nikita Kucherov may have been nicked in the Subway Super Series and that the Russian Hockey Federation may be holding him out of play to keep him healthy for the U20 World Junior Championships. Grain of salt.

And the Lightning continue to circle the drain...

Dwayne Roloson allowed 4 goals on 31 shots for the loss. He held the Lightning in the game when they didn't deserve to be in the first period, but the second goal he allowed was very questionable and led to the third period collapse.

    First Period

    Second Period
TB Gervais (2), (Stamkos, Bergeron), 13:52
OTT Smith (7), (Cowen, Daugavins), 16:46

    Third Period
TB St. Louis (8), (Stamkos), 3:35
OTT Alfredsson (6), (Spezza, Anderson), 8:58
OTT Foligno (8), (Alfredsson, Winchester), 15:33
OTT Smith (8), (Gonchar, Phillips), 16:19

I give. If the Lightning don't pull out of this tailspin tomorrow, then Yzerman needs to start working the phones.

Brett Connolly was -1 with 2 penalty minutes and 2 shots in 8:48. There was talk he'd be in the press box tonight. He hasn't looked very effective offensively, lately. It might be time for a brief look from upstairs a la what happened in Stamkos' rookie season.

    Lulea 2 @ Brynas 1 (OT)
    Johan Harju, Lulea, 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
    Season totals: 28 GP, 9-5-14, +4, 8 PIM

Lulea snatched victory from the iron jaws of defeat today, stealing an OT win from Brynas 2-1. Trailing 1-0 with 29 seconds left to play, ex-Blues draft pick Simon Hjalmarsson potted a power play goal to force the extra period. And then, 31 seconds into overtime, Mattias Persson potted the winner. Grand theft larceny. Lulea faces Vaxjo on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Nikita Kucherov did not appear for CSKA's senior or junior side today.

QMJHL Note: Teenage phenom Nathan MacKinnon (pictured), 16, had five goals for Halifax in a win over Quebec Saturday night. The Halifax native has 19 goals and 49 points in 29 games so far this season. Expect him to go first overall in the 2013 NHL draft.

Gwinnett Gladiators 3 @ Florida Everblades 4 (OT)

LW Alex Hutchings, FLA: Did not play (injured)
    Season Totals: 14 GP, 7-5-12, +3, 10 PIM
G Pat Nagle, FLA: Win, 30 saves on 33 shots
    Season Totals: 12 GP, 6-5-0, 3.14 GAA, .894 sv%, 1 SO

For the second straight night the Everblades got an overtime goal to top the Gladiators. This time it was Florida leading scorer David Rutherford (pictured), who scored his 10th goal of the season. His ninth opened the game. Rutherford was a teammate of Lightning prospect Dustin Tokarski with the Spokane Chiefs from 2006 to 2008 and won a Memorial Cup with Tokarski and Tyler Johnson in 2008.

Nagle notched his first professional point in the game, an assist in the second period.

    The News-Press has the description:

"The Everblades extended the lead early in the second period on a heads up play by goalie Pat Nagle. While Gwinnett was in the midst of a line change, Nagle quickly moved the puck to the far blue line to Matt Beca. Beca charged into the zone on the right wing side and fired a shot which was redirected into the net by Rylan Galiardi."

Norfolk property Philip-Michael Devos was called up to the Admirals before the game. He had an assist in his AHL debut.

    TJ leads the comeback.

Dustin Tokarski allowed 1 goal on 16 shots for the win. He's won 5 of his last 6 decisions now. That's a sign that it's time to ride him as the starter. He plays better with the heavier workload, and he's got a tendency to stay hot about a month to a month and a half at a time.

    First Period

    Second Period
ADK Akeson, (7) (Eddy, Hamel), 5:01 (PP)

    Third Period
NOR Johnson, (7) (Dimmen, Jackson), 12:46
NOR Johnson, (8) (Ashton, Devos), 19:30

Tyler Johnson (pictured) and Tokarski were the game's first and third stars. Johnson's quietly put together a nice 3 game point streak after snapping a 4 game pointless streak. He's been overshadowed by fellow rookies Conacher and Ashton, but on any other team he'd be getting a lot of plaudits for his production for a first year pro.

Tonight's game marked the debut of new Admirals Evan Oberg and Mike Kostka, as well as Admirals contractee Philip-Michael Devos, who is a much better playmaker than former Miami Vice sidekick Philip Michael Thomas.

Norfolk goes on the road to Binghamton on Friday. Their win tonight moves them back into a tie with the Penguins for first place in the AHL East Division.
