    Pontus Sjogren improved to 4-0-0 by virtue of a 31 save performance against Djurgardens to keep Lightning prospect Riku Helenius firmly in place on the bench for Sodertalje. Ex-Avs pick Linus Videll had a goal in the match for Sodertalje. Ex-Lightning prospects Josef Boumedienne and Andreas Holmqvist assisted on Djurgardens' lone goal. Sodertalje evens their record at 4-4-0 (2 OTW) and has risen to eighth on the Elitserien table.

    Ashton was kicked out of the game late in the second period after his second fight. Red Deer scored three times in the third period, and once in overtime to win. Against Grayson, Ashton came to the defense of a teammate who had been checked from behind. The Pats are now 1-4-1 on the year.

    The Admirals outshot Charlotte 39-23 in the match. Norfolk's goals were scored by Matt Fornataro, Mitch Fadden, Mark Barberio, and Juraj Simek. Mike Angelidis had assists in triplicate, with helpers also belonging to Paul Szczechura, Vladimir Mihalik, Kevin Quick, and Alex Berry.

    Norfolk begins their regular season on Saturday night at Binghamton against the Senators.

    Mike Smith allowed just 1 goal on 21 shots. I feel like after two strong starts that Smitty has won the opening night starting job.
