Default Ben Bishop and his Quest for Team USA

Good article in today's Times about the top six contenders. Ryan Miller is a lock, but the other two slots are up for grabs with Ben being a leading candidate.

I'd love to see Bishop make it but I'm skeptical that it'll happen. He had a poor world championships and has no "big game" experience like some of the other goalies have. He has a hot hand and if you judge by this season then you'd definitely want Bishop on the team though so I think it's a toss up.

I think he could be the third guy at least in case the others look bad. The bad WC doesn't help for sure. Definitely wouldn't expect him to start out the gate.

That was when he was experimenting with the Franz methods.
Upon benching for 19 year rookie and return to the US he went back to old methods and said by by Jean.

The King Bishop will take us to the playoffs. Although, things can change with injuries but it does seem there is a bit of a chip on the team and they want to show peeps out there just how good they really are.

I would personally go with Ryan Miller as the starter, Quick as the back up, and Bishop as the third goalie.

It's crazy how many possible Olympians we have on are roster right now.

Bishop- USA
Stamkos- Canada
St.Louis- Canada
Filpulla- Finland
Salo- Finland
Gudas- Czech
Sustr- Czech
Palat- Czech
Panik- Slovakia
Hedman- Sweden

Puck Daddy weighs in on the USA roster.
I won't be shocked if Bishop doesn't make the roster. Miller and Quick have solid reputations and everyone has been in love with Schneider since he wasn't as good as Luongo in Vancouver. Like everyone on this board, I'm a believer in Bishop. I hope he gets a shot at redemption.

And if Ben gets passed over I think he will come back and try to prove them all wrong.............which will be a good thing for us.

Bishop's biggest plus for getting a nod(aside from his play) is that all of the other main choices have been sidelined for extended periods of time due to injuries. When it comes to a short tournament you go with whoever is hot, and Bishop is on fire.

What is the big appeal of Schneider anyways? He's never been a front line starter for a team during his career. He was Luongo's backup and now he's Brodeur's backup. Bishop is proving himself to be a front line starter for a good team. If USA goes with Miller, Quick, and Schneider then we would have Miller who is a good goalie on a terrible team. Quick who has a groin injury which isn't the easiest thing to come back from in a quick (no pun intended) manner if your a goalie. And Schneider who's been a back up his whole career.
Only goalie outta those 3 that I would have any confidence in would be Miller.

Detroit Free Press seems to think Howard will get the nod over Bishop, which is such bullshit to me.
