Well fuck.

On the bright side, Lindbackup was serviceable, no one got hurt (I think... knock on wood), FC was entertaining, and there's still a compliance buyout for Teddy during the summer

I said this in the last game thread butt I'm gonna say it again that Salo just hasn't looked very good lately at all. Wheeler absolutely schooled him on that overtime goal. Maybe the age is catching up with him but I don't know.

Barberio took a far bigger on ice dump on that goal.

I agree Salo deserves some blame there too. Thought Barberio had a good game... Then that happened.

I also thought Flip was going to win the game there. Damn. Props to Lindback. He was more than serviceable, he had a couple saves he had no business making too. If he keeps it up he should help Bishop out a lot by being able to spell him more often.

Montoya had way too many easy shots to stop. Had a hard time getting elevation on shots without missing by a lot. Guys were slipping a lot and losing pucks left and right.. Must have been the ice?

What kinda surprised me is that Taormina played nearly 11 minutes of ice time. I honestly don't remember seeing him or hearing him mentioned lol. But I guess the silver lining is we got by tonight even while missing are best 2 way D man in Hedman. Plus Gudas and Brewer played strong games after missing 5 games so that's good. Also I question sitting Panik in the press box as opposed to sending him to Syracuse for the weekend. It could have really helped them out down there and maybe given him a confidence boost for him to go down and dominate a few games.

TB should have had like 8 power plays. The refs were more clueless than usual.

Stopping Crombeen from fighting and then having them fight as soon as they got out of the box was beautiful.

Taormina had one really awful, soft shift in the Third Period where he looked Barberio-ish.

Anyone who asks why I am hard on Barberio, please refer to that last play. He's so maddeningly soft in his own end. He made Scheifele look like Eric frickin' Lindros in his prime the way he got manhandled in front of the net. Dumpster. Fire.

Killorn made a great play to work himself into that breakaway just prior to that play and he probably should've finished off that goal because he faked Montoya out of his shorts. With that said, I'm absolutely positive Montoya threw his stick on that play. It should have been a penalty shot and Barberio's miscue should have never happened.

Mind you, this team sleepwalked through 40 minutes and probably didn't deserve the 2 points. Montoya looked like hot garbage between the pipes and the Lightning did nothing to really test him much until the Third Period. It's depressing because that was an eminently beatable goaltender they played tonight and they let him off the hook big time.

It seems like we always let Montoya off the hook.

Barbs didn't play it well but the majority of the defensive lapse was salo.
