Default Helenius

Something appears to be ready to go down with Helenius. I don't know if he is about to be traded or loaned out to a European team (or even called up for that matter), but that's why Gudlevskis appears to have been called up to Syracuse.

Yep... was reading up on that yesterday (via twitter, etc). Seems like they're trying to facilitate a trade in SYR and if no takers he's heading overseas.

JB (paraphrasing here) said he's handling it like a trooper.

I'd be shocked if Gudlevskis sees Estero ice again

Just a thought that popped to mind. Columbus just lost Bobrovsky for 4-5 weeks. their GM is from finland and would know all about Riku and they have shite for backups. I would think packaging Riku for a bag of pucks or a hot latte could be done there.

Who knows probably nothing to it but I'd probably check in with the BJ's front office before just eating the remaider of the deal if I were Stevie

Was thinking the same. With Mckenna now up with the Jackets that leaves Jeremy Smith as the go to guy for the Falcons and they called in Mike Clemente (Former Brown Univ netminder) to serve as Smith's backup.

That said, I'm still leaning towards Riku heading to the SEL or the Liiga

I don't agree with that. Curtis McElhinney has a 2.34 GAA and .935 save percentage this season, and he dominated the AHL last year. This ain't the same Curtis the Lightning let slip through their fingers!

Lets see what his save % is after 5 weeks as a number one playing those type of minutes in the NHL. You may be right but I am betting on a huge regression to mean.

Phrases like this thrown around on a hockey board is one reason I love the BPMB.

Don't forget Helenius's one-way deal complicates many trades.

Glad to hear he's going to hang around and wait for his opportunity, wherever that might be. With all the injuries that keep happening in Tampa, he might be needed sooner before later.

So, he's putting up big numbers now that he doesn't have the Tampa defense in front of him?
