Amen to that Pete. I was surprised the Cedric got the start over the weekend and he was beaten again. Although the 'D' was not all that great in front of him you think he could hold a two goal lead no?

I think he could be the surprise entry to Boltland this year next if the current rookies struggle. We shall see.
The journey starts

Yup. Yes Sir, THIS

Best case scenario would be that Bishop plays a little better then Lindback, as Bishop still has a year to go on his contract.

I think Cedrick got the start out of respect for his veteran status and what a battler he is. With that out of the way, if the two goaltenders' play is about even, Helenius needs to get the majority of starts as he's the only one of the two with a glimmer of a future in the NHL.

What you'd almost hope to see is Bishop, Lindback, and Helenius all play really well then possibly move Lindback at the deadline in a package for a legit top-4 defenseman that's still reasonably young. Maybe get a stopgap backup in return for the rest of the season in the package if you don't think Cedrick can be the backup. Or, you move him in the offseason for picks and prospects before the draft. Then Helenius moves up to be Bishop's backup next season and Vasilevskiy/Gudlevskis becomes your all-KHL tandem in Syracuse for a season or two.

Then you've got an opportunity to move Helenius or Bishop for picks/prospects once Vasilveskiy is ready for the show. The name of the game is leveraging all this depth that's been built up into improving the blueline and the long-term prospects of the organization overall.

What makes all of it possible is if Cooper's system makes it so that Bishop and Lindback don't have to stand on their heads to put up decent numbers and be attractive trade bait.

And some of us who weren't fond of it are nevertheless saying he didn't do too badly vs. a vastly superior club in BOS and aren't throwing in the towel after one game in any case, even though we think Bishop is better
