And why would they do that now after trading Schneider?

They have nothing left at goal but Luongo.

Vancouver is on the verge of needing a massive rebuild.

They're balking at resigning the Sedin sisters, and have no need to keep Luongo tied to that franchise and that asshole of a coach.

I know Bishop is the more likely of the 2 to work out, but if for some reason he doesn't. After 3-4 months, see if Luongo is available.

The only way the Lightning deal for Luongo is with a different GM. Yzerman has already invested too much into a goaltender solution to scrap it, miss the playoffs, and still keep his job.

If the Lightning really wanted Luongo, they could have traded Vinny for him last year.

Freddy you said that Vancouver wouldn't want Luongo because they were about to start a total rebuild. Isn't a total rebuild what the Lightning are doing?

Default Lu

I doubt Torts would want them to trade Lu unless there was a clear #1 goalie coming back, I just don't see this deal, plus doubt we would give up the assets necessary to do the deal plus open up the cap space necessary to do the deal. I would rather see Malone moved to the 4th line and connolly brought up to take his place on the top line.

liquid gold right there. tired of seeing Malone on the top line with MSL and Stammer. you are only as strong as your weakest link comes to mind every time i see him on the line with them.

I think Malone still has a place when healthy but why force him to play faster than he can. Put him on a lower line where the pace and opponent are more manageable for him and let him play 11 mins a game so he can go harder while he's in there. Its worked so far for Brewer being on the 3rd pair. Same idea.
